    Essay for art school

    Hey guys!

Im trying to figure out what to write about in my application essay. Im planning on applying to Ringling, and I havent figured out if they are looking for a particular topic or if it is up to me.
Anyway, I currently have one idea, but I dont want to be too melodramatic. The essay would be a brief description of my road to become an artist (or at least wannabe ): starting out with family values ("art" was a dirty word...), social obstacles, and personal struggles. The whole issue has been a great, central theme all my life, and I think it is what will define me for a long, long time. I dont want to try to make people feel bad for me, or pity me or whatever, I just want to describe one of the key aspects of myself.
    Any ideas?

    Martin

Go for it! Make it a good, juicy read. Cheers!

I think you are awesome, and I wish you the best in your endeavors, but I am tired of repeating myself, I am very busy with my new baby, and I am no longer a regular participant here, so please do not contact me to ask for advice on your career or education. All of the advice that I have to offer can already be found in the following links. Thank you.

My dad always used to say this about the length of a piece of writing: like a girl's skirt, it should be long enough to cover the topic, but short enough to hold interest.
