Same here, it's been ages since i last dropped by.
Your pencil drawings rock as always, great confident and quality lines.
I think you have a problem either with your monitor or color scheme settings.
As most of your digitals are abit pale. Try and see your stuff on different monitors, maybe then you'll come out with a solution, i'll be back! ^^

    Best wishes, ICE

Wow have I ever been a lazy artist the past while! Busy, but that doesn't cut it, need to make more time. Way too long between updates.

jordyskateboardy I shall and did! Thanks bud.

B-Man Oh it has taken ages to get more, but here is something! you rock.

Wanna great! The different boots are hopfully more aparent now as he is supposed to have some robotic features (foot and his right arm) - going for a little more asymmetry...let me know if it still looks too awkward for some reason.

Artofinca Cool! The render was in Maya - just a basic one, haven't explored more complex rendering in a while and just wanted something quick.

AlexTooth You're right, its been a looong time. Cool glad to hear it

Icecold I know what you mean...my monitors always looks different between each other no matter how long I play with their settings so I dont know which one is 'right' in terms of color...little frustrating and I dont have a good solution yet...keeping that in mind.

Ok a few average sketches from breaks at work mostly, and a colored version of my combat engineer dude!

I don't excell at realistic characters, so for that reason I think its a step in the right direction...however, we've all seen much much better Let me know how to make the next design/rendering even more improved...probably need more lighting reference to follow.

    Jake's finally back =)
I like the 2nd thumbnail alot, nš3-4 look confusing. The things that appear in the bg should not have such defined edges or contours, the lines should be a lot lighter.
Those tribals guys look quite funny. All I'd change is the extreme curvature in the second guy's spear, make it a bit more straight
Third one is quite realistic. The relative size between the foreground character and the rest might be a bit too much. Love how the signboard and him look in the same direction, good composition
Nice coloring although there are afew thing I might change. The skin color looks almost like he's a cadaver. I don't think thats a very natural skin. The knee pads don't feel as if they kinda wrapped around the knee
Other tha that great job man, glad that you finally updated

    I must appologize!

My internet this month since I've moved has been BAD at the best of times and it is making it hard to load images...I WILL be back in the swing of things possibly in a week and check out the many many sketchbooks I owe a comment.

I also go busy and uninspired, but its time to get a bit more serious again and keep learning.

Wanna Back! Though read the above...will visit your book soon though! Good points all of which I agree with. talk soon

xbert yess....slowly, quite slowly, but surely.

AlexTooth Glad they are looking ok...thanks, maybe I'll develop them a little more.

One study I started last night - should finish this soon and have a few more sketch pages? The Icy Cathedral is not gone forever either.

heix33 Cool! hopfully I can get it finished - one more small session should do it. Thanks for visiting.

Still no good internet - BUT, managed to get up some sketches.

Playing with a more cartoony style here and there so they won't be that concistent. I kind of like the Lion/troll character so far, any thoughts on what to do direction wise? I must study animal legs again.

Yeah some good stuff in here
Most of these are pretty cool. As DokNo said, it's great you're trying to explore more than one style.
Might check proportions on some of the heads (old man and lady with glasses) as the distance between eyes and top of the head might be too extreme.
The lion guy looks good but maybe go through his anatomy again?
    Keep it up

    Jaker's got crabs O_o

The giant with the cow on his belt loop is cute concept. What's the idea behind that. Keep striving for that realistic characters feel. Right now things look a bit animated or cartoony. I think I struggle with that too sometimes.

Make a sketchbook happy, feed it a tip to improve!

Wanna Haha I laughed so hard when I read that. I'm lazy, but here you go! Good comments about too much space in the head proportions...playing around with it doesn't always make things look cool, just wrong. Principles to be followed! Don't know much about the cariacture world.

    aiRaGe thanks friend

DoktorNo glad you like it, gotta keep exploring. Some worked, some didn't...now I have to learn why and all that jazz.

Pigeonkill You're totally right, not as realistic as I was intending. I think if I continue with that I will have to just scope out more reference and figure out why. Maybe lack of proper muscle tone with how its rendered, and the line quality.

Parsakoira Sweet thats good to hear...and I haven't even been working that hard...imagine if I had? Maybe I would like it?

And a few more, mostly because I hate adding so many images to a thread again!

Finished the Crab study - well, put in another 2-3 hours and thats about all it shall get...critique away. Had a previous comment about inconsistent edges?

Thinking about planning a composition with the furry dragon guy and a small sheep - what tickles your fancy more, number 1 or 2?

AlexTooth Great to hear, those organic shapes are really fun and I will definately try to further improve them on a second pass...and then make more in the future. I love trees?

SnobbyOo Cool! See you around...Ill visit your book since its been wayyy too long.

KingKostas Thanks!! Must make better art habbits so keep me motivated. I'm going to check out your sketchbook as soon as this is posted!

Wanna Well thanks a lot, glad you like it my friend.

Spoonfruit Nice of you to leave a some comments, but hit me with some negatives too or I'll think I'm actually getting better! see you around.

Ok no scans yet, but 2 pure black and whites.

I really love this method after sticking with it for a bit - while I don't yet know what I'm doing with it, I feel like the learning potential is huge and already started.

Its very blunt silhouette and negative space design, and its effortless to paint over areas and try different things (very important for me right now). I'm no Frank Miller or inking artist but heres to experimenting.

these are looking very nice mate.I also have to work something like that mostly for some work for the uni.
Btw i think the shapes you use for the enviros behind the characters are better from the ones that build the characters(and have little pencil like white strokes that break the clear form)
just my opinion.Maybe later this can become great
keep up the good work now

SnobbyOo Awesome thanks - totally, time to disect and figure out why I largely dislike the second one compared to the first. If you have more ideas why its appealing to you in specifics lets hear em. So far I think the composition is more interesting, more clear shapes and variety. I dont know.

Kingkostas I totally agree. What I like the most, is the background on the right side behind the first one! I think the shape variety is nice and clear. I think a lot of the smaller strokes on the Bug were to make that area feel more detailed, and to suggest a damaged but very shiney shell on the surface. And a few hairs here and there. The second one I had no idea how to respresent this.

Ok a quick 1.5 hr photo study, and another B&W creature. I tried to get a better pose and more dramatic story into this guy so let me know if its an improvement - he harsh if need be, I want to get good at these as it will help my painting fundamentals.
