here are some airplane sketches I did, also as reference for the comic I'm working on. These WWII airplanes are so beautifully designed--I especially like the PBY Catalina but I like the others as well. It was used for water landing as well as land, hence the lovely streamlined underside.

Hey you got really nice sb going on here! I also visited you homepage, very nice stuff indeed. I like you figure studies and you lines look just delicious. Hmm don't really have any good crits. Well as Travis pointed out you could use some studies of color and light (if you wan't to paint realistic paintings). The colors in your comics look good though. Some life studes could help on that too. Anyways keep on posting!

Thanks Satupeikko! I did actually get the Jeremy Vickery dvd - or more specifically it's sequel that covers 'cinematic lighting', this stuff is wonderful! I feel like I've been drawing in the dark. Even simple stuff like color temperature I had never given much thought to. Haven't finished all the parts of it yet but it's been a total pleasure so far.

Now to figure out how to translate that back to comic coloring..

Thanks for stopping by in my sketchbook and good luck with your own studies, that orange study looks quite nice, certainly pretty nice translucency effect going on there
