It has occurred to me that Fozzybar's 'creatures interacting' bad example is kinda hilarious. And would look good on a sign. Or maybe I'm just crazy.

well, i can't force you not to do so...but it would be cooler to reveal all the masses of creatures with one finger snap...you know like the magician on the stage

I don't want that my sample leads to misunderstandings...the green octopus was meant to be another creature of the countable entries...so if you have 2 creatures which are supposed to be entries as thumbnails, then it is not allowed. But if the creature is eating something or hanging on a tree branch it is allowed as a part of the thumbnail. There is only one thing to keep in mind: The creature shouldn't be overlapped by these accessoir elements in a way that you can't see the anatomy or design of the creature...

Yes, we should. There are so many dinosaur types, i think it is a wide range.

so it cant be a dragon type creature?, it must be specific like a razorhead t-rex or a razorhead diplodocus or even a razorhead dromaeosauras, sorry but unless your a dinosaur expert or every design is going to be checked as proof, then isnt it possible to create a dinosaurs type looking image, and just say it is a dinosaur. becouse like you say there are many types of dinosaurs, including, bird like, dolfin like, or your basic 4 legged long neck type.

Also if we do decide to pick the dinosaur one, does it have to be 10 designs of one particuler dinosaur or can we use different types of dinosaur breeds in that 10 designs.

The latter. I am almost certain that the idea is to create creatures with the salient characteristics of dinosaurs (which are pretty general, IMHO) rather than derivatives of known species. Wikipedia has a section on the characteristics of dinosaurs.

Question: Do we have to state which themes we choose, before we begin, as some people already did?

About GW - or citadel, as are their right name - paints, actually they're not enamel or oil, they're acrylic. Very handy when painting brushes. And I know it's kinda sore loser-ey to blaim the medium, but that's not what I'm doing. I'm merely stating that Citadel paints obviously weren't designed for paper. They're great on models though!

    Wikipedia dinosaurs.

I'd like to point out that that many of the ancient reptiles that people just lump in with dinosaurs are not dinosaurs. Plesiosaurs, pliosaurs, ichthyosaurs, pterosaurs, dimetrodons, mosasaurs, those are not dinosaurs.
However, even with only the strictest definition of dinosaurs, there's still enormous variety. See Amargasaurus, Carnotaurus, Dilophosaurus, Lambeosaurus, Kentrosaurus, Stygimoloch, Spinosaurus, Pachyrhinosaurus, Sauropelta, Oviraptor, Therizinosaurs, and many others that I can't think of at the moment.

On another note, scientifically speaking, birds are considered dinosaurs. However, I'm thinking fozzy wants us to stick with just the non-avian dinosaurs.

Can I use play-doh to create all my creatures and photograph them? Afterwards, I like to eat the play-doh. I like the red play-doh most of all....
Hahahahahaa....I'm kidding. I actually like the blue play-doh.

It might sound kinda stupid, but my point is there's no razorhead and will not ever be razorhead dinosaurs. So I guess reptilian looking creatures will work here.

Dood, it's fantasy. The point is to invent something.

Wow. I can expect pretty good entries on this one.
Alas(?), I will not be able to attempt this one... too many difficult subjects for me, and not enough free time anyway.
I, however, hope it would be okay if I post some "for fun" entries by the end of the contest... thumbnails for practice and imagination training, you know.
Good luck everyone, and surprise us.

It's who you want me to be... or not.

People, this talk about dinosaurs being to narrow or specific is utter nonsense. Even if you're designing species that fit into the dozen or so general groups of dinosaurs, there is still friggin' enormous design potential, especially when you consider the possibilities that things like skin patterns, horns, crests, and body coverings (feathers, bristles, etc.) have to offer. If you still think it's too narrow, by all means choose a different topic. But jeepers creepers, just use your darn imagination!

I am not sure what the matter is actually...we had "Venomous Bird" as a topic, and there is no venomous bird on our planet as far as i know, but still we had many entries with fantastic concepts and artwork, just by bringing the 2 parts "venomous" and "bird" together in 1 creature concept...so the task for the dino subject is, make a Dinosaur with a Razorhead...

Actually New Guinea is the home of little venomous birds called - Hooded Pitohui - they have a neurotoxin in their skin and feathers.

... just in case someone wants to know ...
