Now THIS is a fucking topic. I am excited. Man, so many possibilities. Theres lots of kinds of storms and then you have to get into how it goes about bringing the storm. Awesome.

The first thing that came to my mind was something about a butterfly I'm not sure where I've read it but there's this 'theory' about a butterfly flapping its wings which causes a little turbulence in the air which then develops in a huge storm thousands of kilometers away...I think it was in the Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy or something that I read about it

    Hmm..yeah well thats my contribution..

yoitisi you mean the butterfly effect, ye its quite a common one, practicly any psy-fi book that delves into consiquences of life and crap like that, will mention it. it basicly means that no matter how small a thing you might do in life, and thats basicly everything, it will start off a chain reaction, and the consiquences could be major. becouse everything in life is linked to one another. Almost like karma, many religions also believe in the same sort of theory.

    Red face Umm, first?

Hey everybody! I'm new here, but I've been lurking a little while. I think I'm going to do this one, so please tell me if I do something wrong.

(Also, a little introduction, you can call me Edie.)

Here is a sort of preliminary sketch idea thing. I'll probably go through a lot of these before I decide on one.

Please, lots of criticism, if you wouldn't mind!

after weeks of trying I finally have the time to work on one of these! Okay here's my WIP that I did this morning, took me ages. I still have loads to do but I'd appreciate any comments anyone has.

So far the concept is that the smoke produced by the fire becomes a raging storm that follows the creature wherever it goes. C.O.W. - #098: Storm Bringer

Can it be something that actually doesn't bring the storm, but it does travel along with it (the storm, not the creature) so that when he comes, the storm follows?

Oooh, Edelia, I like what you have so far. Finish it. Sorry no crits, I have a hard time to critique sketches, unless they're made by someone who has a hard time getting anatomy right and such.

Also nice topic, sadly I probably won't be able to vote this time since I'm off to Germany. I would otherwise even consider entering because I actually have a decent idea of what I'd want a Storm Bringer to look like. ;/

    C.O.W. - #098: Storm Bringer
The Lightning Deer as it is commonly called due to its glowing antlers and its ability to bring storm to it is a nocturnal creature that lives in unforested areas. When rain is needed this deer forms into herds and causes a chemical reaction to occur in its antlers. This chemical reaction heats the surrounding air and causes a low pressure area to be formed around it. This invariably brings storm fronts into the area. The antlers of this animal are highly prized, although an attack by one of these deer when the antlers are activated can cause third degree burns and be extremely painful anywhere the antlers make contact with skin. It is an amazing fact that more fires are not caused by this creature, but it seems that the deer can control the chemical reaction enough to ensure it does not burn its food source.

Angus, I like the idea behind yours, however, it doesn't come out proper because the values and colours are the same between the creature and the background, especially on the left side of the image.

Also, next time, to get more people viewing your image to give comments, try to link it as an image directly in the post. Sometimes people (myself included) just scroll down to see if there ar any new images. A link vanishes slightly if you do that.

I am by no means an expert, but as for the image I would probably work on the values of the creature, maybe add a bit of dark, warm (or cold) colours to the front of it, to give it a push.

I changed the tone and man did it help. Thanks for the crit!

From the sky it came, but the things origin is un-known. The clouds joined in sudden blackness gaining momentum with each passing second. The winds grew stronger. The air grew colder. And before the people could flee the storm was down upon them. First, it tore down their levees so that the ocean water would flood the land. Then it maliciously devoured their homes rendering many dead and all others without shelter.
The thing that wrought the devouring winds is known to the few who survived as a Storm Bringer. It is believed the thing is cast down from the gods to cut down the human population. The creature flies through the sky and captures storm clouds in its field of psychic energy. Because of the incredibly fast speed it travels the storms are left trailing behind. They join together becoming more and more powerful and then are released above a target area.

My question seems to be ignored... why is that? I REALLY need an awnser on this one so I can start drawing allready!!
Can it be something that actually doesn't bring the storm, but it does travel along with it (the storm, not the creature) so that when he comes, the storm follows?

You could have started when the thread was put up, but it seems you missed reading past the topic title:

    - The creature must be responsible for causing/bringing a storm

read the rules uptop timmy, second line -" The creature must be responsible for causing/bringing a storm ". i think if the storm follows it, then it should ok, but im guessing, you can,t have stuff like a plague or frogs, or cats and dogs, becouse they are things the storm has picked up in one place then just happen to drop in another.

Haven't been involved much in the last few months, holidays, new job commitments, that kind of stuff. Shame I missed the last round. Saw this yesterday and thought I'd give it a go, here's the result of 4-5 hrs. May get it finished, but several trips this week, so don't know. Off to a trade show now....keep up the good work.

The Stormbringer lives in the upper atmosphere where the rapid movement of it's carbon fibre based exoskeleton builds up a massive electrical charge. In descending through clouds this can often result in ionisation of the atmosphere and electical storms as the massive charge contained in the creatures body dissipates to earth.

Final - Still not entirely happy with the head, crits welcome.

It seems that you missed reading past my question, wich is strange because you quoted form it, Rist. I read the title, but, as I mentioned, my creature doesn't cause/bring the storm, but travels along with it, so much so that when the creature is seen, it is always in the company of a massive storm, wich would make someone think that it created/brought the storm. Anyways, I tink it's ok... gonna start workin' on it. Thanks, by the way!
