New AGOT Card Art (Jaime Lannister)

Just got some cards back from FFG. I did three, but the other two sucked horribly. Because I spent most of my time making this one as "bad-ass" as I could :-P Hope you enjoy it.

Jamie does look cool!! The background is really nice too.
I think the horse's legs are a little too short and the sword feels awkward touching the horses head (not going to matter at card size though).
    Really nice piece!

    Jaime is right handed...

    trust me, it's significant

on a composition note---the choice to cut him in half is really detracting from the power of the posture that both the horse and jaime are in. Also, the dark clouds both left and right of them up at the top of the piece are much darker then the men at the bottom and thus its really pulling the peice upwards, and due to the fact that there's no real focal point above jaime and the horse, its kind of leaving the whole thing unbalanced and wonky to look at.

just my .02 but otherwise technically its well done. especially the horse.

awsome man! the horse is really beautiful. i do agree though, the crop is awkward. maybe if the horse and rider were moved up an inch, they would be cropped more naturally, as well as being more dominant in the composition. kick ass paintjob though

p.s - my new roomate mellisa said she was in highschool art classes with you?

Felicia - I see what you're saying. I especially agree with the point about the sword. Thank You!

Rustikof - Wish I knew he was right handed. I could have just flipped the image. The reason for the weird cropping is only because the whole top part will be covered with text. A banner with the title of the card takes up MOST of the top of the image. So whatever's painted there shouldn't be important, hence the extra sky. Without it the text would cover Jaime. But that was a really good crit. Thanx!

jim b - Thanx MAN!! Mellisa Monteil? That would be really weird.

Looks great .. agree on the sword ... it might also get some more light reflection and some tones of green and red ( sky & banners ) ...
