    SeB's Scribbles

    Hello Conceptart.org!

My name is Sebastien, I'm 19, French and currently living in Paris. I just came back from a 2 year experience in Shanghai China. I already had another account here on CA, but since I moved back to France, I thought I should make another account and start over
I have a whole month free before starting a sort of "prep" classes for art schools, so I hope to draw everyday in order to be in shape for the classes.
Enough babbling, here are some recent old stuff, sorry if you have maybe already seen those.

and last some work I made for special occasions.
first one is Edward scissorhands, reffed, made for my sister's birthday.
second one was for a friend's eighteenth birthday, a kinda of portrait of her that I printed as a poster. I also put the sketches.
the next one was for my aunt's 60th birthday. she loves Africa, so I made her this. Composition taken from a gorgeous pic from Cheeks 74 (the last picture is his pic) his is soooo much better *sigh*

Hey, thank you for the comment, MurdokX. Unfortunately, I don't have sketches of China... My first year there, drawing was not really one of my priorities... All I did was doodle in class... And the second year, I had to work hard for my last high school year and I seldom had time to go out a long enough time to do a worthwhile sketch of Shanghai... but fortunately, I do have a lot of photos from China (Tibet, Vietnam, and Thailand also), so I can always draw from them

some sketches done today, not much, I'm trying some new stuff and thus far... it sucks. soooo thats all for now.

gestures, a figure, and studies, all from Loomis.

    Promising stuff, youīve got!
Keep up the studies, especially on heads...maybe try some expressions etc.
For now, the heads all have kind of same shape and gesture.

    Keep it up

Thank you very much for that advice Delmar, I just followed it today, did some heads from Loomis, the ones for expression (gave you a reply in your SB).

So, some heads from Loomis, a one from the mind (the "shaded" one). just realized the drawings should be more fluid... right now they're kind of stoned...

long time no update, I was a bit busy, my girlfriend was here for a week, so I was a bit busy
Here's some recent pages from my soon-to-be-finished sketchbook, a stupid digital doodle. last one is a study of a Greek statue in charcoal (65cm X 50cm approximately).
Tomorrow I'll be doing some digital painting.

So for today, like I said, I did some digital painting. First is a little black and white warm up in Adobe Photoshop CS2, the two others are paintings on Painter IX, an apple and a pear (I used refs from a small Chinese book on real oil painting).

Here is where I got so far coloring the sketch.... I tried a different approach, making many random lines to make something consistent.
I'm having trouble painting digitally, so any tips would be welcome. I think I'm going to color it again..

I finally started my year to prepare for art schools, and today I had my first life drawing class, it was really great. So here's what I made. He gave long poses to begin, 10 min each.

Nice life drawings, keep those up!

The red guy you have colored up above, his arms seem a bit mismatched. It is intentional, don't be afraid to throw in some other mismatched elements elsewhere.

I also really enjoy the first pic in the latest pic. But you might want to check how the pectoral muscle connects to the shoulder. Also the for arm is pretty tiny.

Keep up the work, and good luck in school.

I really like your color stuff and the life drawings also look great. I think your trying to do too much at once with your figures from imagination. Simplify it like you did with your Loomis studies. Just do pages of simplified figures to get a feel for weight and balance. If your figures don't have weight or balance no amount of muscle detail will save them. The Spartan thread is a great place to improve. ( http://conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=108443 )

I just scanned some life drawings (sorry for the shitty pics, it annoys, the life drawings look so much better in real life...), between 2 and 5 min, and some observational drawings (2h30).

Sublimus, thank you. yes the red guy is supposed to have a "fat" arm and a "skinny" one, don't ask
I will do more anatomy studies since I'm on vacation

Thak you Howie, I do feel my figures look a bit stiff, even if they're just inked doodles from lunch break I will do more simplified figures from now on
I'll try to participate in the spartan thread as much as I can, thanks for the link!

oh yeah, I made this WIP for ChoW and a little SP for practice (painter, artist's oils)
oh and could someone tell me how I can put text between my pictures? (like not having those white "attached thumbnails" bars)
    Thank you for looking!

did some coloring on the ChoW WIP... I'm having trouble painting it... It's really painful, I feel I'm just not doing it right... ( did quick colors under the lines as guides then started painting atop the lines) Maybe I just need to spend more time on it...
