    Red face Project Evangelion

    Hey guys

I'm currently getting myself involve in my personal Evangelion project.

As you can see it's still in it's early R&D stages[still 2D for the time being].
    Project Evangelion
    Project Evangelion

Early as it is, I still believe it's a good time to share

I've created a site just for this project, everything is in it's very early stages.
    Pardon the quality.

A quick sketch of an ideal that I will finalize in 3D someday.

Just in case you are wondering why is it that I come up with things like this,
the short answer is I'm mentally retarded. Ha Ha Ha

The design of the Eva-01 & 02 Head is really unique in my personal opinion though my favorite is the Eva-00 head design.
They manage to create the illusion of ďCreature encased in technologyĒ without making it look too ďGrossĒ.

Throughout the modeling of the head, my number one priority is to make sure all edges, even the sharpest ones, are filleted to catch highlight even in the most unlikely situations.
I had been successful at maintaining the ďFillet perfect geometryĒ philosophy with this head.

Iíll try my best to maintain this philosophy throughout the rest of the body modeling process.

After all those time spend on modeling, texturing and weighting vertices to achieve good deformation, Iím proud to say I finally own an Evangelion Model !

Oh My God Iím going crazy, it so exciting !
Now I can play with it ! YEHHHHHH !

Seriously, all I like about 3D is the Playing/Posing & Rendering part, every other thing is just Ö. Ha ha ha! Oh my God Iím so happy !

My OWN EVANGELION 3D model !!!
My going crazy now ! ha ha ha

I went to my favorite pasta place to celebrate my mini victory but I canít stop thinking about playing with it !

One idea went through though, depicting the battle between Eva-01 & Bardiel.

Hereís a quick sketch Iíve drawn with all the pasta sauce photoshoped out ;p
    Project Evangelion
I know Iím suppose to continue modeling the Eva-00 & 02 but thinking about that just kind of make me want to throw up, I donít want to model anymore I just want to play with it ! Iíll do it when I do it ! Ha Ha Ha

you don't have to bevel those edges actually. There are shaders that can do the job for you + you save polys

I understand where you come from nuki and I appreciate your advise.
However, due to the fact that I would like the "Lighting Interaction" with the geometry to be "correct". The most accurate approach is to accurately model the "round-off" corners.

The Shaders handle it by using algorithim similar to bump map, no problem if one limit the setup to using only conventional lighting.

However since GI uses real physical light bounce and I have no idea when I might use GI on this model, it would had been extremely limiting for my model if certain essential part of it is faked.

eya, thanks for tha reply on my sb
you're right, the shader only makes sense in realtime apps - when raytracing the additional polys dont matter anyway

You deserve it nuki, you work hard practicing.

I have a couple of simple drawing tutorial in my website www.bracercom.com[takes three minutes to load...sorry].

However, I think you are beyond those tutorial by now

    Take care Nuki

Something terrible have happen, after spending one whole week building the assets for this scene, getting the clouds just right, calibrating the lighting and mapping the terrain to achieve realistic displacement all in 3DS Max, everything is gone.

Yes, gone, something happen, Iíll keep it simple here, suffices to say everything Iíve work on for the past one week is gone. Not even undelete can save it.

Itís Gone, I canít believe it, but itís gone.

Iíll not be working on this project for now, Iíll take it as a sign to move on, I have a number of client projects coming my work that I have to deal withÖ

I still canít believe itís goneÖ

Because of the shear reason of ďaccountabilityĒ, I have to atleast put a decent goodbye to the people that had been following this Project Evangelion of mine.

So I present to you the only assert that is not whip out by the malfunction, the Eva-01.

My guess, guy is japanese, hence the backwards grammar. And he has a thing for Evangelion, wanted to create a 3D model but his computer crashed.

Sorry bout the crash, dude. In my experience, whenever you have to redo something it always turns out better than your original work. IF you have the patience to redo it, that is...
    - Current project <- Crit away!
    - The Whyatt Sketchbook Any tips appreciated

It’s been a while since this project was stopped, 6 Months & 19 Days to be exact.
Now that my teaching contract is over, I’m back to the freelance life style and with it the time to work on my own stuff again.

Time to have fun and relax again !
Back to my favorite Evangelion !
    I’m so excited !

It's not a real toy Oni Rem, it's CG

OK, time to move on to my favorite Eva-00, the funny thing is I canít really justify in the design sense why I like this Eva the best, perhaps partly because itís blue, but I also like the ďcompactĒ look of the head, itís somehow looks more ďpracticalĒ compared with the other two.

The interesting thing is in design, one is taught that having a strong silhouette is a good thing, something that the Eva-00 isnít very good in compared to the Eva-01 and Eva-02 but I donít care, itís my favorite, end of argument, ha ha ha

Created a brief sketch to guide me in the eventual material implementation of the Eva-00.
So excited, another Eva is about to be born in my hard drive. Ha ha ha

    Currently modeling the Eva-00 head.
Itís not too much of a challenge for it consist of mainly flat surfaces, hence, the only
thing I will need to concerned myself with is the quality of the fillet effect when two flat surfaces meet.
    Project Evangelion
When Iím modeling this head, Iím already wondering how I should approach the modeling of the Eva-02 head because I believe
itís by far the most challenging to model of the three Eva heads for it is very organicÖa lot of curvesÖmust look for definitionsÖ.

Agree Robert.B, I'm working on cleaning up the mesh.
I'm already finishing the mesh, looking at that previously posted picture....wow...can't believe the head is going to be done soon.
