    =Starting anew= ++UPDATE!!++

Im currently an art student studying something I dont want to study. I study at the Art Institute in Florida and I've notice for a long time that its lacking in many aspects. Its made me miserable and I'm starting to falter when it comes to my artwork and drawing. I don't see myself finding a career in cartooning but find it more as a hobby. Anyhow, l'm trying to get back to my artistic roots being more illustrative with my drawings and self-studying to be better at anatomy, dynamic poses and character concepts and design. To start my sketchbook i have a few old and new drawings...

    Sketches:
    OLD:

#1 drew this a long time a ago. Inpired by Bjork's song "Nature is ancient" And " oceania".

wow this is an amazing start to a sketchbook. I love the tattoo designs, everything else seems so delicate and clean though, ver nice

Your first sketch is a little off on the forshortening and abit stiff. I like the rest though.

Great lines, and such imaginative images! Your attention to detail, and the dream-like quality of your lines is just lovely. You have a beautiful flow. I can't wait to see more by you!

I can't stop staring at the humming bird piece.

Also! Sounds like you're in the same boat as I was... I spoke with Karly a lot about it, because she seemed to relate... I was going to the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, and I was so unhappy. I recently decided to instead spend this time making money, building my portfolio, and looking toward more focused methods of study- like the CA Atelier. I hope you figure out what you want to do- if you need to talk to anyone about it, pm me! : )

    Wow! Nice SB!
    Yeah its tough at ai's.
Its also tough studying something you dont really want to do.
I've used ca.org as a way to get better at illustration and art in general for a few years now and in some respects its better than any college. Hope to see you around here and posting.
    Good luck!

    replies!!

    Thanks again everyone.

smartkyle: thanks for the comment. I like tattoos, it might be something i might look intoo in the future. The first drawing is the oldest so hopfully my foreshortening has improved since then but i still have problem with how stiff my drawings look and i dont draw very dynamic poses.

Camara: wow thanks , very much apreciated. Your critques are welcome too.

silvestri99: thank you. The humming bird is actually a tatoo design my mom and sister wanted.

Saturns Gate: Coolbeans and tahnks too. If you see Bjork's "Oceania" music video you'll see where i got the influence to draw it.

Sway West: WAssaaaaap? Thanks for the compliments . I'll PM you soon. I'm still in the boat with a year to graduate.... hopefully.
I would like to OC with you and karla sometime. I've seen your sessions on her computer. Looks like fun.

Icon: AWESHUUUUUMMME! Thank you for encouraging me to start an account here. Its sparking my motivation engine in to gear. Thanks buddy. Also your art is awshume too.

    Evxyza92: Thanks. Much apreciated.

.:J/A\X:.: lol. I didnt notice that. i guess if you look at it at another angle.

ChaoticKnight: You an AI studnet too? Doesnt it seem like theres something big that there lacking? But yeah Im doing the same, trying to use CA.org to improve.

Mr.Delicious: thank you and will do

    Dan Valkar: Koolbeans. thanks.

Iunno who the genius behind the -geek- in star wars is but I think star wars is a very cool thing. I mean theres more people that like star wars than not...that means we're majority!!!!!! SO THEY'RE THE FREAKS..I mean geeks haha. I love how your style actually shows a persons ethnicity and your lines surpass mine..jealous ... I do think that you should do more imaginative stuff. Your references are amazing but so is your imagination. I like the way you do flowing objects...like the cloth, the h2o or the fish..you can put volume into those very nicely..anyways thats it for me...imma go back to trying to get better at lines now . till next time and be sure to post more

    updating...

yay!, more comments!!. This make me happy.

ped454:hehehe, STAR WARS FOR THE WIND!! lol I agree that the people that dont like Star Wars Are the freaks . Thank you for the compliments.
I do think that you should do more imaginative stuff
This is my problem. I believe Ive burnt out my imagination and its really hard to draw something out of my head. Maybe its stress or maybe i just think to much about what to draw instead of just starting a draw and let it flow out of my head. I just draw a blank when i try to get to it. I'm trying thou. :/

stevenR:Thank you for the compliments. And adding color to the tattoo designs would be interesting. Maybe something like art nouveau/ Alphonse Mucha sort of coloring or japanese woodblock prints. I'll try it out.

Dished:Thanks. Originally that desing was for me. I really wanted to get a tattoo. I love tattoos, they have some sort of tribal and ritualisticabout it. But then i remebered my fear of needles D:. So im gonna start out small, really small... Some day.
Just out of curiosity,do you normally use reference for the patterns and swirlies and the stuff like that?
To anwser your question i don't use reference. It involves alot of erasing thou and just chosing the lines that compliments the design and composicion.

    UPDATE!!!
So here's an very old drawing. I did it about two and a half years ago and I was cleaning my hard drive of old junk and ugly drawings when i came across it again, colored half way. So, I decided to have a little fun with my wacom tablet and Painter 9. I was gonna leave it the way it was and touch it up so i could use it for a mini portfolio I need but then my roomate comes in the room saying she has an idea for a hair style. So i use the very same drawing. From that it evolved into something entirely different, concept-wise, from the original drawing. I thought it was funny how it evolved from one thing to another. So here's the evolution......

I need to work more digitally. I leave them all half way finished.

whoa you have great line with pencil and i like the way you render it. I'm always fighting between using such a clean line and making complete dirty chaos so results are always somewhere in middle - the same as what i was trying to achieve :p
