The studies are looking good as usual man. Your lines are more precise and less haphazard looking. Approach everything the way you're doing the Loomis studies- more precise and less fumbling around just searching for lines. The digital study looks nice too.

Pixie Bergman Color? *panic sign flashing* haaa lets see how it goes. I am still rather uncomfortable with color. In fact, i still struggling with values, so i think color will come much later...

iamnotatypeofflower Thanks dude Will keep going.

Zord I am actually trying to get more gestural instead of tight. Trying to do it such that the images emerge from the scribble of lines? I dunno, still have no idea what i am doing. For my loomis, i actually do a light lay-in with 2H before i draw in the darker lines with 2B or 4B, maybe i should do that for future drawings...Thanks !!

Here are some life drawing class frmo the last 3 classes. There a lot of crap which i didnt take photo of because i feel they are a waste of server space The following are some which I am slightly more satisfied. In the last few images, i was trying some techniques from Henry Yan's book but as u can see, i failed miserably

Hey man this is a great update! Really nice linework for the figures, huge improvement with the proportions too! You deserve a pat on your back!

    This is the book http://www.amazon.com/What-People-Wo.../dp/0312383215

This is a great book imo. Will show it to you next time

Pixie Bergman Thanks for showing me the book. Have to buy it in the future

Been trying out pen more this week. Tough medium to use. U basically is doing direct drawing, no foundation no draft lines. Came across this blog http://tarosan.wordpress.com/ and very inspired by his pen drawings. Trying to learn from his drawings and still failing badly.

Very nice pencil works!! I love your lines. Your proportions and observations have improved drastically! Keep up the good work man. I can't wait to see some coloring.

PS something that has nothing to do with art. How did you update your Sketchbook Title to add the Updated Date? I haven't been able to find that answer on my own.

Cool to see you're doing a lot of studies. It's even greater to see you're doing lifedrawings as well !

    Such a progress man!
    Your last drawings are amazing!
You are very good with proportions, and those faces are very good.
    Keep up man!

Thanks for stopping by my SB and commenting

Bleh.. Yeah my figures do have a stylization to them. I was trying to do them from my head, rather than from observation. I have been trying to get time to draw people, while im out. But, it seems like everytime I'm out, my baby wants me to play with him or fetch him the toys, food, utensils, attentions that he throws on the ground. I never have time to myself, when I go out. When I do have time, I promise that I will draw from the people around me. Even if they are only there for 30seconds.

SaiVix, krytos, Lyno, Hellfire Thanks. I am trying hard... Still far from the level I would be even moderately satisfied.

Borrowed the Human Machine by Bridgman from the library. It is a great book and I am diligently go through all the pages. I tried to copy the diagrams and then do my own drawing from imagination based the stuff i learned.

Some figure drawing. I went to two figure drawing class this week. Was really rusty in the first two after one week of attending one. My muscle memory is like shit and I think i need constant practicing. Last two i was trying to do more shape design but i think i end up paying attention more to form.

I started a daily sketch thingy. I tried to do one simple sketch every day no matter how much time I have left after work and other drawing. So far I still kept to it.

mc2mc2 Haa.. those are the better one.. U havent seen the bad one Anyway, i am far from good but i do feel i can draw better on a big paper. Can use my arm more. On small paper, i cant seems to draw that loosely.. Maybe is my drawing posture...

Holy crap, you have a sketchbook thread since 2007?! How come I never know? XD

    (granted, I never frequented CA enough . . . )

Keep it up man, it looks really good. I noticed you have a lot of line art skills, but the painting on PS is suffering a little. Man, if anything, I recommend that you do one of those Master copies on PS. Just to get better mate!

Thanks for finding me a sketch group again! =D Hope to see you sometime in the future again. I miss the good old Vancouver sketch group.

I can see you put in a lot of effort into that painting. Really nice! I'm liking SAI as well so let's keep going on that.

Hopefully I can do some life drawing again. I'm looking into that with a friend of mine in my sketch group here. But anyways.

Maybe we need to put in more time in our sketches!

Hi Mydrako, great life drawings again . Maybe you should try to "think" more when drawing those daily sketches. In your life drawings your lines are cleaner. Maybe you should try to see the figure/line before placing it, I don't know .

Anwyay, great stuff again, good Bridgman studies too, try to do more of them!

Your pencils are getting better with every post, so keep it up!
For the digital paints, try using bigger brushes first. Lay down the values, then go into the details.

Jia you! Oh and get well soon!

Hey, Thanks for stopping by my SB.

Good progress! Really dedicated studies. Love your Loomis studies. I'm going through my umpteenth round of Loomis, Vanderpohl, Bridgeman, the last 2 reading the text and then analyzing the drawings while I copy.
Stay with it. You hit different things each time you draw and work in a new concept. Pick a focus and explore. One session work on gesture, another shape design, etc. Eventually it will all come together at the same time.
This one is quite nice. Very good and clear description of the figure.

SpaXe Didnt haev much time this week to work on SAI... Maybe next week I will try some more on it. Graet u started on ur lifedrawing.. There are tons of fun and a graet way to improve drawing

Lyno I agree my lines for my imagination drawing is much messier. I still find it tough to visualize it mentally hence the constant searching for the right lines. For life drawing, the model is right in front, so I can directly observe it. I think i really need to work on my visual dexterity and memory. Thanks !!

Fumble Dont remember which is which but they range from 1 - 10 mins

    phiq Thanks !!

shamandalie I truly sux at digital !! haaa I cant paint to save my life.... but i will try

AztcFireFlower Yah at the moment I am working my way through the human machine... and sort of taking a break from loomis heads...and i just got the vanderpoel book.. gonna work on that soon... Yah i am sort of using the strategy u are describing. I try to think of a particular thing per session though in my times i found myself drawn more towards form than shapes...(maybe is my 3d training? haa) Have to force myself to try more shape design...

DaStreets Thanks !!.. I still found expression to be really tough. I love to able to capture the expression of people in different situation but i still sux at that... Will strive for it definitely.

jigje Haaa Pixie is at totally different level of dedication... Her updates always make me panic and go grab my pencils just to draw something...

    Sooo here it goes..
One crappy digital speedy from imagination.. ard 40 mins
