One man's junk is another man's...

ikuru: Initial thoughts are that it's a cool pose, but symmetrical and centered. (Something I tend to do a lot...) Maybe the background can enhance some of the composition and help with that. The other comment is that her chest seems to defy gravity. I'd distribute the main mass of the breasts to be a little lower, but ymmv.

    ---
An initial concept. The inset is a possible composition for the drawing. This guy is opening a shop named "One Man's Junk." He's showing off the banner and the contents of the shop window which will be on the right. The twist will be that the items shown in the window actually are treasure - crowns, scepters, coins, etc. But they're junk to him.

I'm thinking of putting him in a Hawaiian shirt, too.

    ---

Updated to adjust hand/arm position and size of the feet and legs. Also added in more detail and sketched in some background. I don't think I'm going to do the initial composition, so I may reposition the banner so we can see more of it. I'm considering coloring this one after I ink it. I've never really done color, and it will partially depend on how much time I have.

BTW - I actually have a Hawaiian shirt with those leaves on it. It used to be my grandfather's.

Take a look at my series of in-depth critiques, like this one of Salvador Dali's hidden portrait of Lincoln.

i agree what ikuru is saying. I may be wrong here, but did you take your referance from someone who has surgical implants,
unless you want that very modern type woman look, then i would go look for some natural breasts. but if it is the modern fake look you do actually want for a specific reason, then you should realy emphesise it and basicly go the whole hog, by over exagerating them.

thanks for the good crit there scott (and grenogs too). Ill make sure to enhance the comp while working on the cape and that. And yeah, the brestiez need work, I probably just make things a bit simple like that to begin with just to tell myself a bit about where the idea of anatomy goes, abd I will make it more naturalistic when getting down to detail.

About your character Id say especially hes right hand is a bit off. Either move the arm or drag the hand a bit lower. also he´s foot is a bit too small.
and right leg needs more deffenition too, still a pretty funny start.

is there any reason why the ground is red and the tennis ball is green? if i didnt know better i would say you are colour blind, except you have painted the fire the right colour, so im a little confused. Also is this a wip or your final image?

Migsta- I really like your idea. That's what I was thinking. If the character is a collector then I thought he might have tools to help him pick up junk and stuff and somewhere to store them.

The junk hasn't been added yet, but I want this to look like a formal portrait. I already know his head is way too big and I'm taking steps to fix it. Will update later today, hopefully - sorry for the crappy pic.

Well the ground is red for no particular reason. Just liked the color and wanted to plant him in actual space. The tennisball is green because I have a green one here in front of me for my dog. More yellow? As far as the if it's a final, it will be if I don't decide to do something like say make the tennisball more yellow or, paint the ground a diffrent color then red. Any other suggestions?
