neat color on the enviro (buildings)

the last concept figure is great, (awesome style)

honestly, i would like you talk about your experience with the sketch group.

i think the benefit of the attachement here is that everything stays in CA : no broken links problems and there a search engine to search images here (didn't tried) but it really

    see ya

Hi Anthis, great updates, you capture great mood in the daily sketches and the concepting magic piece works really well.

If you don't mind posting a couple of links to some of the reference you use that would be great, don't worry if you don't have time. I saw a couple of links on a spartan camp thread once but lost track of it. In return I got:

    http://mjranum-stock.deviantart.com/
    http://senshistock.deviantart.com/
http://www.darkroastedblend.com/ <check out amazing origami sculptures

I might have got these from you, I can't remember, sorry if I have.

zou - Good point on the attachment, makes sense. The Daily Sketch Group is right here on conceptart.org, under Community Activities (link). Always very challenging topics, and usually lots of activity and comments around there. Good stuff.
Angel Intheuk - Thanks for the links, I'll also get a list together. I've accumulated quite a bit but it really need to sift trough them.
Tom Fenton - Cheers! I sure hope they do.

Sketches for the daily sketch group here at CA. Mixed success!
Pencils are moleskine sketches 'from life' and stuff for the spartan camp.

Sifted trough some of my anatomy reference and compiled the small list I had promised to Angel Intheuk. Just making it available to everyone. Have fun!

Placed tags for the protection of tender souls. Also a small disclaimer - I'm not getting any pop-ups and threat reports from these links. But that's just on my PC, so not a guarantee.

    hi there

    great updates !
co crit except your challenge entry: it's very good but need more contrast and perhaps some colors variations, this isn't very hard after you've done such good job on rendering.

and a huge thanks for sharing your refs !!! great things

Oooooh thank you so much for the ref links those are really useful. I didn't realise there was a ref thread so I'll lurk around there for a while and let you know if I come across anymore good ones.

Your latest update is awesome...I don't know what you mean about struggling with colour it looks great, I think that the only thing missing from your colour applications is maybe you need to experiment with using complentary colours here and there, maybe just go a little crazy with mixing it up a bit etc...for example using an unsaturated red as well as the brown on the robot relic sketch to bring out details on the tree trunk.

Really cant crit much here. But I can voice my amazement instead! When I look at your paintings I see that theres soo much more I need to learn about color and value. Im just scratching the surface there. Still fighting with the balls in the Peer project thread ^^ That last spitting monster is inspiring. Cool idea with the spit hardening^^
    Thanks for the links!!

FINALLY vacation, time for some serious catching up.

Yuki_slider; Thanks! It was a strange topic, sort of a different experience for me.
zou; True.. colors always end up a muddled sort of brown. Noticing the problem but having trouble coping with it.
sony; Cheers! And no problem, always looking for more.
    HolyMane; Thanks!
Angel Intheuk; Sure, let me know if you find more! Lots of pictures on the internet, but really good (free) reference sources are much more rare. What you mention is exactly the thing I'm looking for, consciously placing those colours. I often get lost there, and end up with monochromatic stuff. Good points!
surus; Will do! I enjy those, most of the time
Parsakoira; For sure! Along with the other activities, as much as possible.
KingElvis; Hah, I feel exactly the same. There's always more to look out for. I'd have to look up the peer project, I know too little of some regions of this site...
Dizon; I'll definitely be tidying it up! Deadline made me rush some parts...

Digital going downhill it seems, noticed i'm doing few digital studies so I'll add more of those.

Parsakoira - Not nearly busy enough!
Dizon - Thanks. Great exercise and less confronting than drawing live people :|

Again the Zoo. And a batch of quick figures done for the Spartan Camp, without ref this time. Digital stuff next.

Great sketches Anthis! the lizards in particular are really good. Your style there reminds me of a scottish artist I heard about in college, I can't remember his name but his sketches were so delicately drawn and beautiful..I shall find out and let you know.

Thanks too for your observations in my sb, they were very helpful, made me realise that when I don't have an actual picture to copy and have to make up light sources etc I get very muddled, something to work on..thanks again.

zou - sketching at the zoo was great, may do that more often.
Angel Intheuk - It's a problem I'm suffering from as well! I'm guessing stilllives and drawings from life in general should remedy it.

Sketchmeet sketches in Amsterdam, and a quick creature that somewhat derailed.

Very nice updates Anthis. The metal eater is great! I love the characterisation of it, great movement on his 'hair' and it still looks like melted solid metal, his teeth are nicely done too, the only thing I would say is there should be a yellow reflection on it's arm and the piece of metal it's about to eat. The different colours you've used blend really well, you can tell you're improving in that respect...and the lighting looks spot on to me You're right...practice, practice, practice!

Your stuff is looking sweet as always, Anthis. I think you've really gotten rid of that 'photoshop-look' in your digital works too. Always a pleasure seeing your updates, whether digital or analog.
