Another image for another Gener8r party.
The theme is 'Leisure Wear' so that's basically shellsuits, hawaiian shirts and general horrendous sports gear [nineties I do believe]. Should be a funny one.

Am a bit pissed off as the kid I did for the tattoo decided not to have it done as he couldn't make up his mind. Thus he decided not to pay for it. Little sod!
I can only hope he gets run over soon.

Been really busy recently but here's another page of sketches for bits of work.
Failed at doing a stencil for a club [do it with cardboard, not paper] but spray painted a few pieces for the toilets, will get a few photos of that up soonish.
Just getting on with a few few flyers due to go to print mid week. Leaving it all a bit too late though really........

Another flyer finished for a big Drum and Bass night. Congo Natty and Limewax headliners for those of you in the know. This was the front cover as I'm sure you're not interested in the typography.
I assumed the light was coming from the centre but feel that the end characters need darkening up a lot more.

Another page and some other stuff that never saw the light of day [or rather I never heard from the person again].
Did some fairground illustrations for a site too, not that pleased with them really and dunno if they'll use them [probably not].

    Finished record label - Sinistro

Just finished a record cover. For the same one as I did the spider rig for the centre piece for [a bit delayed, yeah I know].
The first is the actual cover and then all the different rigs follow and general detail. It was a lot of fun, puts to good use all the time I've spent drawing munters over the years.

Some really interesting ink work. A lot of those faces look pretty similar (in the last post), make sure you watch out for that.

Cheers Meissner. Yeah, think it's that whole Manga influence thing, but then again they're really good at distinguishing one character from another. So, I don't know really. Maybe I've got a limited imagination.
I'll have a go at doing cartoons of various different faces though, thanks.

Good to hear from you again Littleman.
Glad you like the map, the project seemed to go on for ages but the vinyl's gone to press now, hopefully.

These two trucks are for a friend in France. He'e got a record label Neurotrope that I've done a few other illustrations for, he likes speaker trucks most though.
His music's Spiral and Hardtek, if you're a fan.

Taking Messier's advice and having a go at a different style for people, more exaggerated expressions and features. A lot harder than first thought.

Seem to be faffing about over old ground recently. Projects seem to never end.
Anyway, got commissioned by a mate for a record label. It's a cartoon based on himself but in the same style as the Mattykore one posted previously [they've both got tracks on the record].

Haven't been around for a while so here's a few sketches from a few past and on going projects.

Trying hard to get my anatomy down too, realised it makes more sense to draw while working through reference books rather than reading and relying on your memory [when it's as bad as mine anyway].

Just finished doing another flyer too.

Good stuff man. There is alot of "bad influence" in your work. Now I'm frustrated and thirsty.

You shure don't waste any space.

Love your map idea. Reminds me of a puzzle I once built, and one of Greenday's CD covers. Those are cool and you can reallly study them for quite a while to explore all the detailed scenario's and stuff.

OK. Just to clarify, it's ONLY a single opinion

I can see you jave done alot of arm, studies. I look at each one in detail, and can imidiately see, you are missing the point of doing them. Everybody wants to improve. But by drawing something thinking you have to in order to improve is not what is about.. Because at the end of the day you only did a drawing.

My advice only draw something if you want to learn it. Don't draw something because everyone else does and says I got told it would improve me. No. Improvement starts from paying attention and showing interest in what you want to portrai. Draw with curiousity, this should fall down to each stroke you do.

If you don't do this soon, you'll be carrying on throwing these study sketches at us in the motto, "Here look, I am drawing drawing drawing and I ain't improving! You are all wrong, this ain't working for me!" And you don't want to get frustrated by doing loads of amount of work, wirth minimum result.

IF you wanna learn to draw something, learn it by studying it carefully. Just looking at it and memorising it if your really good will do, but if not do some memorable sketches.

If you wanna communicate something visually, just focus on the message, and draw it.

If you wanna impress, learn and study everything you need to make that one painting as good as you imagined it, meaning study while you drawing it, pause to edit and learn more.

I say work smart. Not hard.

Nice pictures out there. Though I do prefer those clean and simple styles, but your drawings look good too.

Cold has some good advice here. But I do believe doing many anatomy studies is necessary

    Cheers for the advice Cold.

To be honest I really don't know what I want to do.
Studying anatomy really does interest me and I love drawing and painting but when it comes to a lot of my freelance work I just feel it's - I dunno.

Since figuring that I'd never get into the video game industry I gave up all hope and went freelance. Luckily I get work.

Sorry, I'm wondering off the point. Basically I haven't got a direction any more which is why my studying flits all over the place. I'm just doing work as it comes.

I'll try to think more when I'm creating though as you're right that I'm just filling space for no reason.

Finished the illustration for a CD case for a mate. Just got to add all the tracklisting and so on. Will be interesting to hear it.

Wasn't really much to the digital editing as I'm still on a learning curve.

Hey man i think u need to use more references
like what others have told you.. your characters
look alot like eachother but only they wear other clothes
    and have different hair..
So i think you should look more
to faces (from photo or from life) and use those lines and make a person
do that alot, and it will go more easy from imagination later.

i hope its a bit helpfull!

    greets

Thanks EJ'. Yeah, seems to be a thorn in my side being able to vary my characters faces, I'll practise more with that.
It's hard I find though as you know that everyone has a particular style so I assume that goes with face although that's a shite excuse, dunno.

Working on a painting which is what the woman's[?] body with a speaker for a head relates to.
Also practicing more with different faces and understanding how the muscles warp and change the face accordingly.

    Comments and advice appreciated.

Finally got a photo of the wall I did in a toilet.
Also discovered what happens if you let people piss on your work.
May try and do it again but this time sand the steel down and after add some lacquer to protect, if only I'd known.........
