Thanks AustenFM. Glad you like my sketches and you think I'm dedicated. Hope I can spur you on.

Cheers Rotor. Yeah, I know what you mean about colouring digitally. It's all a bit too pure and not a lot of room for mistakes as errors just stand out. Painting, traditionally, I find's a lot more forgiving.
I really don't work enough in colour, hence trying the spray painting, but even then I find it very restrictive. But I'll work more on my values, thanks.

Thanks Jephyr X. I don't know if you've ever used spray cans but it's taken me ages to get used to them. Bit of a love / hate relationship.

This is a rig based swan for another night coming up in September.
It was training in perspective more than anything, tried to make more use of the black and white too. Thinking about it now I should added a few hills, looks a bit too flat.

Here's an image for a mate's music release. Another test of perspective, it's hard looking back now and seeing what alterations I could've made the more I learn about it.

Something I was working on a while back, sort of related to another project but then still not too sure where I was going with it. Practice anyway.

Unfortunately I don't have any coloring tips, I guess just do some master studies and light studies to start getting the coloring going right.

Either that or try just grey scale painting to get used to blending then just into color. It might help

Either way, your sketchbook pages are amazing!

Thanks for the tips Mat, even if you did say you didn't have any.
Yeah, I think I do need more practice in greyscale 'colouring' as my values need work. You've given me the idea to work in a single colour's saturation grades ... I'll see how that goes.
Glad you're still liking the sketches.

Hi again, I'm really likin' the image in #363...very schweet!

You've asked for critz: In your painted images you might try adding atmospheric perspective...making objects in the distance much less saturated w/ less contrast...and as you come forward into the image add saturation and contrast.

Otherwise I'm impressed with your sketchbook work and "inks".

PS: I've never used spray cans...unless Photoshop's airbrush counts?? Clearly your getting them sorted!

Thanks for the tips Jephyr X. I've got to get used to mixing up my greys, something I commomly forget to do, so thanks for the reminder. Got to train myself to do more scenes.

Spray cans are an interesting medium, I just can't get used to having limited colour. You can't just mix red and yellow to get orange. I've got fed up with them anyhow, got many other mediums to get to grips with.

This is a late piece for a new years event, a sort of utopian theme. Again, I should of mixed up my greys a lot more.
