    Wasteland Babe

    Hi.
I have been working on this one the last 3 days. =) I can mainly work at night since my monitor is broken and everything on the screen is really dark.=). So Iím sure the will be a lot of shadows and shapes in the picture that I cant see.=D Anyway.. Here you go.
Original size is 1980x3300. Really huge.

Iím quite new at painting pictures digital. This is probably like my 10íth picture or something. But I have been painting thousands of game textures, but thatís not comparable. This is so much harder, but lots of more fun.=)

    Cheers.

your colors and lighting are absolutely great. one thing that I noticed was that the face looks a bit flat.

I think the jaw line may be what's making the face look flat. Perhaps more light on her cheeks may help. Her face looks kind of hollow without it. Otherwise, I love the lighting. The clouds and the contrast... very awesome. Especially for only your 10th!

I actually think the picture would be more engaging if she was look at you or perhaps in line with the rest of her body. Her head is contorted in a way to allow her to view the sky.

I like the colors and the small minions at her feet.

Pretty solid image. I think the color palette could use a bit more range, though, as the figure and the background pretty much use the same colors. The figure work is pretty good, but I think the composition would be stronger if the figure wasn't in the dead middle.

The rendering and lighting is fairly good if not a bit muddy and overworked in some places like the midriff. Keep working at it, though, seems like you're making very good progress in just 10 attempts.

I like the whole concept but I find theres overuse of greys in certain areas, such as the waist, colours becomes dull. I feel it could have look better if she were to look up at the direction more towards us.

Thanks for the great critt everyone.=) You have given me some good ideas.
I think Iím gonna let the painting rest for a few days so I can get a more sober look at it.

    Gasmask:
Iíve used to paint every day when I was younger. But then I suddenly stopped painting back in 95-96. Itís those damn computers fault. =) I shouldnít ever bought one.

    Blackhand & ShawnYe:
I painted the whole thing at first in grey, trying to do paint the lightning and composition right without having to bother about the colours, then worked all the colours in when that was done. Iím just trying out different ways of painting. But you are absolutely right. Itís really far to grey.

    Cheers!

excellent color choices. i think what would make this work even stronger is to make corrections to the anatomy of the female. areas to look at would be: 1) the jawline, which appears to be a bit off 2) her right arm, which has too much of a curve and 3) her left arm, which appears to be on the thin side.

correct these things and you're golden. i love that little thing clinging to her leg...haha.
