    oodles of doodles *update 4/12*

I do so many sketches and the like (and usually ruin that lovely raw pencil look with my faber castell pens to block in the line work which gets lost amongst the grey pencil lines!)....

Despite filling sketch book upon sketchbook with doodles, many just are not fit to see the light of day, but I'll show them too you, as to judge anyones skill, you must see the best and the worst (and these will definitely be some of the worst!!! )...
And I have some lovely new PURPLE covered sketch books to fill !!!
Anyway a (very) quick doodle of Tank girl (yeh remember her )...

These pictures seem like they're prime for some color! I like the finish look that you create with the thick lines.

Dont worry about being bad or good. Just keep drawing as you get more and more peoples attention. What's important is that you make some progress and with the conceptart.com community watching, you'll definitely be motivated.

Besides, these first two drawings are great anyhow. I'd like to see something a little more complex or with some color?

Thank you 'Red Skull' and 'Viking Raider'!!! I always like line arts with the fine line bordered with thicker lines, guess that shows when I put ink on my sketches....
I have a few more to show that (although are still greyscale) have a bit more complexity to it.

Thank you for the look and the suggestions!

I have had this idea floating about for a while... So I did a few reference photos for myself to help me get the idea down on paper....

This is the sketch so far, I usually do a few, scan my fav, clean it up the print it on w/c paper prime for painting. ( I have yet to use digital media with any success )

The last one has great movement. Something funny about that left arm though. Part of it seems a little long.

    Thank you...
The blurriness is because I attacked it last minute with a putty rubber.. the 'tyes' at the front of the top where not 'matching up' so I blurred them up (with said putty rubber) and re 'doodled' them, obviously I didn't do it strong enough to make the area defined again

    Another doodle...
Its obvious in this that i didn't use a ref for the pose, the proportions and the look of her breasts seem off... guess that will teach me

Nice female anatomy and the lines in the first drawing look great. On the second last sheet, I think the main problem is that the upper arms are too short but otherwise it looks correct to me.

What comes to quick sketching, the pencil line seems to have just one thickness. Maybe you could start experimenting with a loose grip so you could make the final line the only strong one.

Nice start to what you have in here. Pencils are definatly your strength but I really think it's only a lack of line weights in your inking that needs improvement. You have good strong lines and a good choice on placement, I just think they need to vary a bit more. Keep up the good work!!

Thank you, I shall know to keep an eye on the upper arms when I'm sketching next!
    Great tips!

Thank you, do you have any tips on improving the line weights (I'm not familiar with professional inking). I'm using a variety of artists ink pens to ink (Faber Castell PITT pens).

    Thanks!

I thought I would challenge myself, help me learn a tad more! And have sketched out the beginning of an entry (If I'm allowed) to the 'Character of the Week' thread. Miners daughter...
I am imagining a dark city street with steam rising, something umber-ey and dirty! To make it even more challenging for myself, I'm going to (attempt) digi colour pld:
    Wish me luck!!!!!

Raw sketch (I left in the blue, just so you could see the different directions I was going to take)...

I got myself some new funky greyscale pitt pens, and a new A5 sketchbook, so all the more reason for sketchy goodness...
The greyscale image was actually doodled with a red pen, and I left the rought lines in there (wish I had a good excuse but I'm just lazy )...

I was on a mythicial creature binge this day!
Oh please ignore the Sphinx's hand... I should do some more hand studies till I get it right
