    Exodus

This image portrays an exodus of a civilization. Could be ours someday... There is a feeling of peace and the sunset represents hope of a new beginning. Regarding the spaceships, there is an analogy with fish both in their design and in the way they are grouped together as in a school of fish.

This image was done for a Portuguese forum contest whose theme was "Grand Space". It was done in Photoshop with a little help from 3dsmax (spaceship mock ups) and took me about 20 hours to complete. No photos or photo-based brushes were used as it was one of the contest rules.

Here are a couple of details and the painting process:

    Hey andreas
Beautiful image mate. Very nice lighting.
minor crit on the ships tho, i think the functionality of them couldve been developed a bit more.

Other than that, great I also loved your walkthroughs on 3dtotal

    peace

    The landscape is beatiful indeed.
At a first look some of the ships that are in the middle seemed to be reflected in the water.
    But it's great

thechalkie - thanks...and you may be right. I tried to balance the sunset with the nearer spaceship.

Kian - thanks...sometimes you get to a point where you just want to finish the piece, so probably the spaceships got less detail

JoanathanS - great...I'm glad you think so

dkounios - it's always great when someone uses your work as desktop. Thank-you very much.

    JoaoCaetano - muito obrigado

I love the emotion of the piece, and how it could be decomposed in simple shapes. Cool stuff...!

Nice work. Some of your edges of the mountains in the distance could be softer but otherwise sweet piece. It would've been nice to see one of the ships closer to the water and it's rippled reflection.
