    Blue hair, Oz, Cats

    Hi,
It's been a while since I posted stuff.

The latest work is my dragon piece from IMC2011

    Mr. Purrington

Lost Under the Mountain (for the dungeon delve artorder challenge)

This is a painting I started at the illustration master class 2009 (finished long after I got home)

There were several different choices on what to illustrate ranging from book-cover briefs to subjects that were more open-ended such as "lady of the lake".

I chose to do a steam-punk reboot of the Wizard of Oz.

    detail:

The second piece is a personal work -- acrylic and watercolors on paper.

    Admiral Adama from BSG

... and a piece from IMC 2010. The theme was 'beauty and the beast'

Here's a couple from an older style I had going back in 2008 when I started this thread (and probably what the comments underneath refer to)

    Thanks for the input,

    Ken

PS. I moved the other older work down the page.

refreshing! for the 2nd pic, if the other characters were more like the 3rd's horizontal strip french guys style, would appeal more to me, but i understand that its a commissioned work so might have your restriction thanks for sharing!

Stuff from 2007 (originally first post)

Since last June I've been doing contract work for Girl Guides Canada. Most of you might know them by the little girls who come to your door to sell you cookies (if you're from Canada)... I think they're called girl scouts in the US and do similiar activities...

Anyways, here are a couple examples of what I did for them.

This is an editorial piece that's being locally published back home in a small-press magazine. The article it's for is one about the generational gap in music.

I got the idea from going grocery shopping a couple of months ago... Avril Lavigne's 'girlfriend' started being blared from the store radio and some disgruntled man (who at the time was trying to pick out oranges) forcefully plugged his ears.

Just experimenting with collage-like elements. This was for a school-assigned project on kensington market. It was originally supposed to sit as a sequential piece amongst other students' illustrations of the same story.

Another girl guides illustration for the section of their website for 'Jokes'.

    ________________________
Kev, thanks very much. That's the first piece that I've ever done like that.

Zenichi, thankyou. Yeah, I can see how making the other characters like that would improve it. I might do a personal piece later on this month that has alot more sculptural elements to it.

Bhanu, Thanks! I'm currently making a site right now... The one that's currently up is just some test one that I made for school about half a year ago. When I finish it, I'll post it up

    I graduated?

It's been a while since I posted anything. Aside from a graduation ceremony to attend I've basically finished my 4 years of illustration at sheridan.

Here's what our grad book looks like.

The theme this year was 'Rebus' -- so combinations of pictures that can be used to spell out sentences.

We all got our own spread in the book with an option to post 2 images.

This was a book cover project completed last January. (Ink, cut paper, acrylic paint, and digital)

This Illustration was for a movie review article about the film; Juno. (Watercolor and digital touch-ups)

After the Juno piece my Prof encouraged me to do more illustrative portraits; so..... Flight of the Conchords (watercolor, pencil, and Acrylic)
