    Tutorial Request

Id like to learn how to make photoshop paintings. I am a web designer and i only made site designes in photoshop and afterwords i code them. I am not so good at painting in photoshop and i'd like to know how i can paint something like in the attached pictures made by kian.

I'm more interested in landscaping and city scaping.
Please let me know if you can make some tutorials for me. Thank you.

P.s.: Ill post some of my "painting tryouts" here in a short while.

Its a skill.. If you can't draw at all, just grab a sketchbook, get out there and start drawing from life! When you start to understand the basic , you will also understand what it takes to make an environment like the above.

Practice practice practice.. Theres no tutorial on how to be a good artist.

Anyways... I did a quick speedpaint and splited it up as a tutorial or walkthrough.

1, block in shapes.. Choosed to go with something city like just for the sake of it.

2, used Ctrl+T to transform the layer... Gave it a little perspective.. Also made it lighter to act as a background.. Few values.

3 , Added a foreground and gave it an obvious 3 point perspective.. Just to make it more dynamic.

4 , Some perspective guidelines, just to make sure stuffs right.

    5, "Finished" the perspective lines

6, I overlayed an Gradiation to creat more depth in the foreground.

7, More shapes and basic blocking in.

8, Added two figures in the foreground.. Very dark, just hinted the features of a man. This to show scale. I added a strong light source, and added highlights to buildings..
I also rechecked the perspective and realized some stuff was off.. But I didn't had time to fix it, cause X-MEN is on TV

Sorry for the crap, but at least its a hint to get there .. heh.. It takes practice as I said... And I'm not even 1/10 as good as Kian.. So i'm not trying to do what he did. Just hinting ; )

Stefan, what Dile's just done for you is boiled down a few semester's worth of art school into one succinct post. You now owe him $10,000.

    Stefan,

Dile is right. Drawing is the basic skill for any kind of art (painting, sculpting etc). Start drawing the objects around you and, if you can, frequent art classes; a good master is always important.

If you are interested in Photoshop tips only, you can look for training DVDs, like the Gnomon Workshop: www.thegnomonworkshop.com

    Cheers.
