This is my very first post here, and when browsing the forum I got the idea to do my own sketchbook journal. I am serious about being a freelance artist, but I am trying to study on my own. Oh, you already started a sketchbook I see. You should put the link to your sketchbook in your signature, so when someone sees one of your posts, they can follow it here. Also, feel free to post your elf drawing in here too even though it's in the Critique forum as well.
I think the most important thing at this point is to draw whole lots. Draw yourself in a mirror, your face, you sitting. Get ppl to pose for you. Draw your pets. Draw from photos. Draw everyday things like apples and shells. Just try to get lots of practice and don't worry if it doesn't look perfect. And try to draw every day. Even if it's for an hour or an afternoon. It's the best way to see consistent progress.
Good luck! ;D

Agreed with dierat, practice makes perfect! and also you should pick up some drawing or anatomy books (Lewis, Hogarth, Vilpus drawing manual...)
Best of luck !
