    12 Olympians (slight nudity)

Hello Conceptart. I've been a long time lurker on these boards but I've never really posted anything, and since I just finished my website, I figured now is as good a time as any to start. These were done as part of an independent project for school while I was abroad in Florence. They're basically just character designs for the 12 Olympians of Greek mythology. Originally they were just going to be the characters, but as you can see some of them ended up coming out a bit more like finished illustrations. They're one heck of a long shot from being perfect, but I figured I'd better start getting some more feedback from other artists outside of art institutions. Let me know what you think.

I like your project! There are some really cool character here. I see some nice rendering improove (you not posted in chronological order, it's correct?).
Some cut bother me...almost all the weapon's ends, and some other elements, going out of the canvas.
Hephaestus can be my favourite, but he need some fixes (imHo): head seems separeted from the body and I can't understand the left foot. The Hammer have some perspective issues and i think that the hammer's head need to be enlarged. But I like so much this render.

    You live in Florence?

    JUst my two cents
    cheers

I think Hephaestus is supposed to be lame, that's why he has club feet.

Yeah, I noticed the hammer as well after I finished it, and the fact that his head seems a little too far off from the rest of his body to be turning like that. As far as the foot goes, he's supposed to be a gimp, which is why the foot is turned like that. However, it does still look a bit awkward and clearly it isn't obvious to people who do not know his story, so I definitely understand your criticism.

And no, these were not posted in chronological order (though some of the best ones were the earlier ones IMO). And no, I actually live in Baltimore where I go to school at the Maryland Institute College of Art. I was only in Florence for a few months, studying there this spring.

    Thanks for the comments.

Sure, Vulcano is pretty similar to the Volund's northern god, and his handicap is noted, by there is many way to make a deformed foot and this is not the most readable, in my opinion.

    Cheers

Athena, Hermes, and Apollo seem to fit together the most as a coherent bunch. Not sure, but I think it's just the style you used on them. It's more striking than the others perhaps or maybe just the similar linework...

I do enjoy all of them though! Very neat concepts!

This may just be me but normally you don't have a shield if u range????
makes it incredible difficult to aim and shoot (especially if the target is moving)
