    Guns N' Roses

We all know that the whole Guns N' Roses story has become a bit of a farce these days, but it's easy to forget about the impact they had on the LA music scene in '87.

What do you all think of Guns N' Roses overall?

Appetite = genius, one of the finest rock albums of the era.

Illusion = would have made for one awesome single album, unfortunately they had their heads up their arses by then.

Everything else = great b-side album.

    Slash = awesome

Velvet Revolver = Horrible, combined the very worst elements of two great bands.

appetite was ok some great tunes, but more me its kind of bombastic stadium rock meets hair metal....

more a fan of Jane's Addiction also part of the LA scene. For me there is more variety in their debut than appetite.

You have the metal anthem "Mountain song",
the humour of "standing in the shower".....
the beauty and dreaminess of "summer time rolls"
    the horns in "idiots rule"

not going to say one is better than the other....
just my opinion here, think both bands had their impact on the music scene.

But chinese democracy...will it ever be finished, and who else from the orgianl g'r line up will feature.

Duffy, SLash the others they are in Velvet revolver.....

Axel should put it out as a solo album if its just him.

Yeah, GnR certainly weren't doing anything groundbreaking but they were very good at what they did.
I'm firmly in the "Being good is more important than being original" camp though.

Loved Janes Addiction too although I prefer Ritual to Nothings Shocking myself.

Damn right! There was too much filler in Use your illusion, so it felt more like "Use Your Dellusion"

Velvet Revolver have only one good song, and thats 'fall to peices'
