    Edge Of Twilight Game Art

Right now theres a folder sitting on my desk with hundereds of concepts from this game, i'l get some of the other people in the art team to show some work too, but for now I can only show a little bit.

These are all done in Photoshop cs. These are all from about 6 months ago,

Excellent stuff. I love the gritty textural nature of it all.

the perspective on parts of these REALLY bugs me but the lighting totally wins me over. They are fairly uniquely done as well, but I'll admit I wish for more scale indicators and slightly polished, minute(My-Newt) details.

    Hey Alti.

Looking good! Very nice use of colours.

I suggest you work with your perspective though. A lot of it is warped a great deal.

Good lord those are amazing! I love your use of textures, is really really sets things off as well as those colours and the ambience you've captured. Really inspirational!

Looking nice. The second piece seems to be a "birds-eye-view" and a "worm's-eye-view" simultaneously, wich is a bit confusing. Normally when you bring the lines together at the top, it is combined with a very low (or below canvas) horizon.

    kick ass style man.

love the 2nd concept, although the perspective may be a bit whack (as noted already i think) and the lighting in the 4th one is hot. love it.

    post more if you got'em!

Very nice stuff, but maybe the texturing in some places gets way too excessive.

I like them too much! I know that they are full detailed but some of them seems to be undone! maybe something really small have should be there to end the painting!

Architecture is a bit messy. On the 3th pic, I think the castle is central building in the area but the main road is abstract and not developed. Altar occupies too much space, in fact he blocks both roads.. Curved bridge on the right side breaks symmetry , also his curvature is not functional because his construction is not arch-based... Large support pillars in the bottom reminds me Quake2

5th pic also incredible messy... For me, it's not even planned asymmetry, but round rosette ( which is center of composition ) claimed for symmetry... Book cases is interesting idea, but they are not developed too - for such detailed interior, they has very "geometric" form

Two attached pics illustrated my ideas - first is a library and second is a castle. Make notice at bookcases - they are not PLACED in the room, they are PART of the room.

Of course, I can be wrong and you always can ask for advice from professional architector.

i tend to agree with 'thenightpainter' on this one.
i think you need to worry less about style and more about getting the perspective and architecture right.
Although your paintings give a good mood and atmosphere they still need to be worked on quite a bit more even if you are going for a loose style.
loose and sloppy are to very different things.

    Smile

I hate to agree with most of the guys and girls here because I've struggled with much of the same as well in the recent past. I was always a sucker for nice atmospheric stuff until my modelers started to complain things were not clear enoug for them. Especially when I started asking for changes during modeling and they pointed me back to the concept art... damn I really did paint only one ear

I understand these are mostly meant as inspirational stuff (i think) and thats where they impress. good painterly feel and good colors. Impressive man.

    regards

    Chris
