Some more crap from today... figures are from photo ref. The hands, feet, and arms are life. Again, I don't know what I am doing with the painting thing but here are a few things I was just messing around with.

    Thanks for look everyone.

I would love some critique on this smoking man portrait... Something looks screwed up about it but I can't seem to figure out what it is. I would like to work on it more and fix whatever it is that looks so screwed up. I will post the reference image with it so you can see what I was working from.

    So....

And the smoking guy I would love critique on if anyone is watching this thread... as well as the reference image. I can tell I screwed up at the very basic structure of this which is pretty disappointing... could someone point out what it was that i did so wrong?

Hey there! You dont need to worry about getting into the academy! They take anyone! The less drawing experience the better because you have less bad habits. Its a great school though, and will help you out if you are considering.
The smoking guy has too large of a head-or brain area. I would check that. It helps me to overlap the photo and my painting in photoshop and check for differences.
I grew up in Kalispell Montana by the way. Its a great place. Cool to see another Montanan on here! Though-Oregon is WAY better!

Here are a few drawings I have done the last few months. I still have a ton to learn and am going to study with an artist in North Carolina the beginning of next month. I still can't draw much from my imagination and still haven't started learning color. I didn't do any artwork for awhile but have been at it 10+ hours a day for the last 6 months. I plan on getting a laptop capable of painting on (recommendations?) and to start learning about color soon. I think I want to go into illustration but I really want to master the fundamentals first.

    Thanks for looking.

Figure drawings, all are 30cm graphite on Canson except for the last one which is 40cm (and is the latest drawing I have done).
