image information loss when saving to jpeg?

It seems that when I'm saving my images to jpeg they are losing their pizzaz.
pizzaz being the what seems to make them more vibrant and tonal.
Contrast, tones, colors, over all lightness/darkness, all seem to be effected.
images that look good in PS look really bland once saved to jpeg.
I'd expec them to change slightly but the difference is quite substantial.

As far as I know I'm working in RGB and saving in RGB.
is here a reason for this loss of pizzaz?

    Jpeg is a lossy format.

That said, make sure that your photoshop colour space is identical to your monitor colour space. Hit shift-control-k to check.

It's not the jpeg compression, it's your color management settings.
