    Yew!

I think the weapon is frikin awesome, but unfortunately it takes a fair bit of the focus off the actual ork...

Even if the ork was darker and a tad bit more buff... you would notice a substantial increase in the images over all balance.

Hope that helps great work btw.

it looks like you added a glow and blur and it aint helping to read the painting.
mayby you could post a bigger version.

Aside from what everyone else said, I am totally digging the textures.

hey john - this piece looks really cool. You have some good shapes in there and some good texture and detail in the character.

That's a pretty good earthy palette you have too.

If you wouldn't mind my making a recommendation, i think the image would read even better than it does with a little bit of separation.

For instance - separating the character from the BG by losing the halo around him or flattening the texture in the world with some darker value. The shapes of the blade are great and they get lost with that halo.

Thanks for sharing your work. I'm looking forward to your next piece(s).

Uhh... this is cool and all... and the weapon is hilarious and great... but it looks like you did everything in the world except work on the most important thing in the picture... the Orc's Head and face!

That head is like a black hole at the center of the galaxy. I keep looking at everything around it looking for evidence of it... there's a head in there somewhere I'm pretty sure....

Harvey Dunn always says what you spend the most time on in a picture is what you are emphasizing in your "letter" to us... like what you talk about most in a letter is what that letter is really about.

You "wrote" this painting about the armor and the weapon.

You almost forgot to write about the orc. It's as if on page 46 of this letter/painting you wrote, "oh, btw, there's this green orc who's holding all this cool stuff. But anyway, as I was saying about the spiked armor..."

To put it another way, everything in this piece is yelling at the top of its lungs, except for the one thing with a mouth!

I think you should lose the glow on the orc's head and really get in there and do that face so that it's round as an apple and fascinating to look at, has the highest contrast and the strongest silhouette, the most interesting color and texture, best form, crispest edges, and draws the eye like gangbusters.

Just my opinion though.. Fun piece!

way too soft colours, and texturing seems to repeat where it shouldn't. Sorry for such a lame crit, im extremely tired at this point. Design wise, that sword is very interested... But even so, the texturing seems to kill its flow. Seems like you added texture wherever you could. Like Elwell said, too much of everything.

That sword is great! It needs a bit less happening twards the back but I really like that beefy look. Dunno whats going on with that glow to him though. Looks very out of place.
