thanx to Sangmort for this nice topic!

    ADDITIONAL INFO

    - No individual or character!

    - We need to have a relation to both topic parts: Singing and Death...including only one aspect will disqualify the entry. So think about a concept where both parts are represented in a reasonable way...

    - no personification for "death" like a ghost like creature etc...

Hi to everyone, this is going to be my first C.O.W. AND I've a question, it has to be specifically singing or could another sound like a howling or a mating call?

You can interpret it how you like. Some people use the topic as the common name for a species. But that is not the only way to think of it.

I think I'll stay away from this one. Super topic.. but I should focus elsewhere this week. I will sing some deadly tunes while I draw though... hope you don't here 'em!

A friend of mine had called me on my cell and told me about the topic and I wasn't digging it too much. But now that I read in to it a little and gave a little thought I dfinitely am in. It's going to be interesting to see what we all come up with this time.

<<<THETEMPEST>>> I think your skull bird may have a lot of potential in this round. Lets see where you go with this. The Pipe Organ fish is hilarious. Go with that one if you want something comical,lol.///

    Good luck all!

Hey all First time posting a wip for cow, though I've pondered and sketched some of the previous topics. I'm always a little concerned that my idea isn't original, or worse, copying someone else's creature design without realizing it. So if it's similar to what others have done before... it's not intentional.

Anyway, the idea I immediately had was a creature that released a noxious pheromone fog during mating season that poisoned birds. (The fog is released during its mating call, forgot to mention that earlier.) Singing? Check! Death? Check! My quick sketch:

    C.O.W. - #094: Singing Death

Like my half-assed dead bird? The thing that sucks is I have a million other things to do this week, so I may not have time to finish. I'll definitely do my best to get it done though

Awesome topic! I don't know that I'll get time to participate but I love these topics just as inspiration anyway.

thetempest - I actually like the spine-fish-horse so far, it seems the most unusual. The bird is okay too.

Sentinel13 - Looks awesome so far, I look forward to seeing this one finished. Question: does it make noise when it releases the fog? Otherwise I don't know if that would be singing if we have to take it as a sound.

Dubbed, “Singing death”, this unique one eyed melodic horned reptile lives in the marshy grasslands constantly scanning the horizon for food. Not what you would call a "fast mover"...the creature normally communicates over long distances by what could only be described as singing thru its hollow horns, (the horns will grow into the creatures mouth prior to maturity...the mother will hunt for her young until their horns mature). This scaled hunter "turns it up" a few octaves when hunting...by closing its mouth to sing; it blows tremendous blasts both of air and sonic waves out of the top of the creature’s horns… strategically aimed, these sonic air bolts knock its prey out of the sky falling to its death. After walking over to its stunned quarry, should the fall not have killed it, a quick swipe of its boney tail will finish the job before its gaping maw devours its meal.

Sovereign: Yes, it does! I'm glad you pointed that out - when I typed that last night I was convinced I'd made that clear. Looks like I was more tired than I thought

Woodlandwalker: It looks fantastic, especially the texture you already have going. Awesome concept too! Your final should be bad ass.

Thetempest: I like the concepts you have for an underwater creature. So far we're all going along with land-dwelling types, an underwater singing death would be really interesting

For some strange reason I'm picturing this creature to be rather cute

I'm going to give it a go, although I'll doubt I'll have time enough

The creature sings(yells) triumphantly when he has hunted successfully. In a sense, it's like bragging rights for this predatory creature. The singing can be heard from miles away, usually scaring away any animal in the nearby area.

This is a rough sketch. I think I've figured out what the thing is gonna look like. I'm not sure exactly how to present it though.
It's a creature that lures people by "singing" then devours them.
