    Gary Laib Sketchbook

Hello everyone in CA land. I've been poking around this site for a few months now and figured it was time to put some work up. There's so much talent on this site and I could spend hours looking at all the beautiful work. I only hope to contribute to that. These first posts are from a project I've been working on for some time. A dark fairy tale of my own design. I hope you enjoy them.

    Regards,

    Gary

Huh, haven't seen the latter work before ;D Hey, what happened to the Mushroom King anyway? Are you still working on it?

Grimm fairy tales are the shiznit. We had a book, the collected works or something, when I was a kid. I only remember a couple, but, what was with all the ppl cut up and tossed into shoe boxes? I think I randomly came across 3-5 different stories that involved some chick/chicks getting lost in a forest, cut into cubes, and gathered into a bag/box. You'd think that story arc would get a bit old, but apparently they didn't think so..

Anyway, uh, you should update more often!

    Vandog- Thanks! I appreciate it!

Dierat- Actually, no one has seen the latter work before. I've been sitting on it for the past year or so. The Mushroom King is still ongoing, but on a temporary hiatus. I've had some major breakthroughs in my career lately and need to focus on other things. Right now I'm up to page 20 I think. I'll be happy to get back to it!

Wow. Nice stuff. The rendering on your pencils is close to perfect. Really smooth and pleasing to the eye. Love the darker fairy tale themes. Keep it up man.

Oh wow, these pictures are beautiful. And really inspiring! I need to get back to work and improve!
    Great work, keep it up!

    Insanity is the key!
Also, studies are a key. And passion is a key. Also, so are inspiration, motivation and dedication. Talent can be a key. Insomnia can also be a key, depression is a sad rusty little key. Damn, artists need one hell of a keyring.
