Does the Slinky® shirt symbolize mankind's infinite struggle against the arduous impossibility of transcending life's undulating encumbrances, apprehensions, and exultations; or was it just at the top of the drawer?

    Interesting stuff.

    la

haha, top of the drawer would be the answer to that one. I did this my Sophomore year, so now I realize that what you wear affects the quality of the performance.. haha

This piece has a lot to do with being sexually abused in my childhood. The used pantyhose are a direct metaphore to annonymous women. By having students from my class be the ones to pull me into the air and stablize me takes a lot of trust. Trust in my engineering, and trust in people.

Its okay that you don't like it, haha! this specific piece is more for myself I think.

I actually like your work even though I tend to be more traditional in expressing myself. I do think it adds to the impact of your pieces when you give it some context - it helps those of us who lack the creativity to grok the point on our own

You mention that in this piece, the pantyhose is a direct metaphor to anonymous women - is that true in the other performance piece you posted that uses pantyhose, or does it take on a different symbolic meaning in that post? Is there any significance to posting them so close together?

Also, (and don't take this wrong), if you have a performance piece that deals with a serious subject like this, you might want to put the prep shots in a different thread. The first shot with you smiling seems to work against your concept, although I honestly like the picture. I'd love to sculpt your portrait - "cute" doesn't usually make for that interesting of a face, but yours manages to be both.

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like cute was what you were going for with this piece So, perhaps dividing up the images of the installation as presented and the setup into different threads would work better?

I am sorry to hear that you have such issues in your past to deal with; I hope that your art gives you a mechanism for dealing with the pain.

Just out of curiosity, when you do these installations, are they presented in a vacuum so that the viewer is forced to discern meaning, or do you have some way of providing the viewer with some information or context about what you're trying to express?
