    pole-head

hi. i dont post much around here, and it's been quite a while since i posted any of my own work. i work all day, so i've been trying diligently to stay up to crazy hours of the night in attempt to progress my illustration. i've also been playing with oil paints again.

anyway, here is an oil painting that i touched up digitally. i'm relatively happy with it, but am very interested in what some fresh eyes might get out of it or think about it.

constructive criticism is greatly appreciated and any other thoughts too.

    cheers,
    oliver

    heavy glow

here's an image i finished up digitally. brush inked with some digital colors. it was an editorial piece about loneliness and finding it in yourself and having the motivation to overcome it and go meet new people and hang out basically.

any constructive criticism is greatly appreciated. really, any thoughts on it are fine and welcome.

    thanks,
    oliver

I'm not too familiar with ink so I can't offer much in the way of critique. I really like the lines here though, and shadows on his face. Maybe a bit more detail in his trenchcoat but still, very neato.

Now, while this is wicked-cool, the birds seem a little too symmetrical and if the arms were doing something a tad different (perhaps one hand in a jacket pocket or some such nonsense), it might add something.

    Sweet, though.

thanks for the comment man. it's sorta disappointing when your image doesn't even inspire hatred enough among any viewers to even comment on their disgust

i was relatively happy with the linework in ink. not super satisfied with the color (looks ridiculously saturated on this macintosh at work) but thanks for the comment.

you are here since 2004 but fail to know that its wrong to make 3 different threads with different artwork at the same time?

the picture itself is not bad.. reminds me of a phil hale i think

Personally I think this is an awesome sketch, dude. In my opinion shouldn't be in the finished section.

Oh and in the future post all your artwork in one thread, that way it doesn't clutter the forum as much, and we can compare all your artwork, in one place.

thanks ellingsworth. is it the digitally filled inks that just dont look finished to you? would you be looking more for a fully painted image to have that finished polish?

    appreciate the comment!

It's not that, I love inks, Kevin Ferrara has some pretty amazing ones in his threads, there's just something not finished about it, it looks like it needs to be polished up some more. Otherwise I really like it, the colors attract me to it.
