looks kinda cool. The acting is probably going to look wooden because of the facial mo-capping. But the creep factor could work in the movie's favor given the setting and characters.

We're still trudging along the uncanny valley. I still think this is a bit of technology abuse even tho I work all day long with mocap.

This looks like crap. Why didnt they just use the real actors? Theres nothing that really needs to be CG besides the creatures. And its not improving on anything you could do with live action.. It just feels like awkward plastic and badly modeled sculptures on a ride at disneyland.

Have you SEEN the live action beowulf movie? I rarely say this about movies, but it was in desperate need of some mainstreaming. It was like a bad attempt by the director to impress his english teacher. The acting was HORRIBLE, some of the actors accents were plainly american and even though everyone was speaking english, I couldn't understand what the hell they were saying.

This trailer is already 10X more entertaining than that stemaing pile of garbage.

I agree with Stephen. Cg characters of real life actors? Seems odd. 300 and Sin City were shot completely against green screen, why not here? In the end it's all about good storytelling though.

Bwhahaha Rhineville, I remember the live action Beowulf, and steaming pile of garbage couldn't describe it more accurately. I would prefer Cg characters over the live action rubbish they had in that film.. and I think they even tried to do some camera shots through the eyes of Grendel.. oh the horror! I guess after seeing the first attempt at live acting, Cg sounds like a great idea.

But I also agree with Silvertone, good storytelling is key.

Why animated? They have a great cast and they turn them into cg models?
Probably this way they dont have to hire stunt doubles :p.

A movie like 13th warrior would have been great. I'm pretty sure this one won't satisfy my expectations (and that of many other people). But hey let's hope I'm wrong and they can surprise us with some great things.

havent seen the movie or heard any reviews but pathfinder looks more interesting to me,though i believe the story of beowulf is much stronger.

I understand the "why cg it?" comments but I honestly think this looks kinda cool.
At the very least it's good to see a cg movie that doesn't feature talking cuddly animals for a change.

Could be sweet, could be rubbish, I'll wait and see I suppose.

It certainly can't be worse than the live action Beowulf they shot a few years back..

I hope they still have all the violence that was in the original beowulf. CG looks really stupid, most video game cutscenes that look better.

They should get Blizzard to redo the whole movie. lol

Yeah it does look a bit low quality, especially against such moves as advent children. O_o They'll prolly render it up a bit before its released.
