The way the deadline works: if deadline is on a Sunday and your image is posted on that Sunday 23:59 your local time it's a good entry.
In fact - as long there is Sunday somewhere on the planet your entry is ok. I will make the poll sometimes Monday afternoon my time (GMT +2) yet i'll have a look at the last entries.
Glen Angus has inspired a lot of us trough great art and great posts.
Please see the Victory Gals thread here:
This CHOW is for Glen.
Thanks to Paul Ganguly for the initiative.

2 - In your composition, link the girl to a Plane or other vehicle - i'm sure he wouldn't mind.

Oblio, you're making it sound like Gangus died! I hope he's still alive, but it fortunately seems he is. You should rename this thread I think. Something like: Copycat action - Gangus won't mindIn Memoriam GANGUS
Or simply "Homage to Gangus - Babes and Planes"

Dragon4lunch, gangus died on July 19th
Here is my first WIP!
I thought maybe a Shuttle Launch.
Dying is just the beginning, and I thought this image would show the exploration that man undertakes during and after life. Our earths atmosphere is the barrier, once through the barrier we hit the afterlife and limitless possibilities and unknowns. We do not fully understand our afterlife, niether do we fully understand what is outside our world.

Oh man, I just read on the last two pages of the Victory Gals pages that he died. The link says he died of an aneurysm and he was only in his 30s. He was still active on CA just a few days ago.

I usually don't participate in these CHOW's publicly (heh, I usually don't post, period), but I will this time. Here's to Ganguly.
seems fitting that a competition of this quality should be in memory of such a great artist. lets just hope the big boys and all the others pull out their fingers on this one
does anyone else think glen angus deserves a spot up on the CA banner with the other professionals etc?
i would but im totally horrible a human characters so therfore dont want to lower the standard.

Any fool can know. The point is to understand.
Despite the efforts of many, I am still very much alive. This thread is in honor of Glen Angus, an illustrator most know from here and CGNetwork as Gangus.
Oblio, I didn't expect to be credited per-se as having initiated this activity, but nonetheless, I hope to see a big turn-out to honor a talented member of the community who will be missed.
Now I'm going to go draw.
i dont know much about him but i will try to present something worthy as a tribute
That's really sad, i had no idea he had died when i looked at this thread at first, but i'm just shocked. His art looks amazing. And I feel deeply sorry for his family, especially his autistic child with no daddy to help him. God this is making me cry....
Even though I didn't know the guy, may he R.I.P. Personally I think this could be quite an emotional subject, but i'll still try and produce something in gangus' honour....
thought i'd get this posted before someone accuses me of copying since i'm seeing some similar ideas popping out honestly though i didn't copy or steal ideas, i started this the day the chow was announced and have been going over it a lot infact a lot of my ideas already got taken (e.g. the rocket) moving on...
the victory gal will actually have some sort of clothing but i'm not sure wot yet. she has a beak on her head. this is to symbolise the connection between her, the plane and the birds. instead of wings i thought it'd be a bit, different the birds are meant to be doves which have just flown out her hands. there may be more, not sure yet. the plane in the background is the concorde. I thought it would kinda match the bird theme, as the concorde is long, elegant and has a sort of beak on the end of it. there is a ribbon round her arm written on it : in memory of gangus (couldn't fit glen angus) atm there seems to be a lot of things going in the same direction making it a little cluttered? watcha think. any guidance you could give me would help also i'll give her a weapon of some sort but i'm not sure what exactly yet. I was thinking a big heavenly claymore. great entries so far btw lets hope to see even more!

I'm totally gonna do something for this, I loved his work. In fact, I just finished my sketch

I owe it to Glen. we all do. a HUGE inspiration, an Awesome talent, and a great guy.
I hope I can make it on time.
this one`s for you Gangus buddy. we all miss you.
i wont be able to join in creating anything this week sadly, but i wanted to pay my respects and say that although i did not know him, i enjoyed his work and it is always sad when something like this happens. I wish his family the best,
My God... I didn't know either.... that's very sad....
I'm here at work writing and I don't know what to say. Even knowing that he was a man fighting to help his son and now he's gone.
Glen! Wherever you are, you'll keeping us inspired for the rest of our lives and so on!
See the light in front of you and carry on fearless!
Que Oxalá o proteja sempre nas suas sendas pela outra vida.
Peace to you all, guys and specially for Glen now.
Wowie, this memorial idea for Gangus is such a great idea. Pushing yourself to excell in memory of someone's life and work I think is such a great thing.
Very cool. I'm going to make time to participate this round for sure. It should be a really great round. I hope there's a huge turn out.
what a tragedy... i'm pretty chocked.
he seemed like a very nice guy, I did not know him but I talked to him only a few weeks ago at this site. can't believe he's gone.
Very good initiative, this thread, I'll definitely try to do something good for this. hope I can do that fast enough...
here's to Glen!

I never participated in this, but I think this is definitely the best reason to start and I hope I can make it.
The bit I talked with him was really nice and he seemed to be a great guy that definitely did awesome work. Rest in peace Glen!
My most respect and Condolences to his family.
Rest in Peace Glen.
That's very sad. I didn't know him at all but I respect his work, and to die so young with so much talent is always a tragedy.
A memorial is a great idea. I can't do him justice, but I'll try.

Wow... I had no idea. While lurking at this site I've been a huge fan of his work for a long time. I've been meaning to participate in a chow for a while and there's no more worthwhile topic than this one.
Count me in.
Edit: Final Image.
In keeping with the kind of WWII theme Glen had going on, I wanted her to be lifting the Zeppelin up as it broke through the clouds. For anyone doubting the validity of a US Zeppelin in WWII, I refer you to this article: http://findarticles.com/p/articles/m...44/ai_87423966

There are a lot of things I wish I could change, but I just had to make the deadline on this. Here's to you Glen

Count me in, Glen, we'll miss you -
NO way, I just looked at his Victory Gals thread last week! He died? This is the worst news I've received this week. His art has really inspired me. This will be a great tribute thread.
His work is truly beautiful. This news is just terrible though. My prayers go out to his family.
