    Mon peinture

Salut! Je suis Eugène Delacroix à Charenton-Saint-Maurice, France, et cette est mon peinture: « La Liberté guidant le peuple ». What you think?

Well, Eugene, its good to see you posting again. What has it been? 150 years?

Anyhow, there's a lot to like in this piece. Firstly the chick is half nude. Good start. I don't know about the whole French flag thing though. The colors don't match and patriotism is so gauche. I like the dead people, but they don't look dead enough and they look sort of posed, like they were just put there to make the composition work.

The half nude girl's neck really bothers me too. It looks awkward. Actually the figure just don't look like they're living through anything more than a parade. There's too much calmness in the half nude girl and the boy with the upraised gun.

Anyhow, thanks for posting. I'm really glad you're not still dead.

Simply amazing. I do agree with Kev on the point that the bodies look too posed, but I guess that's a characteristic of that era's style of painting. I find the pantless guy to be quite humorous to look at.

Eugene, your color is good, but some of your drawing seems a little sloppy. You might be interested in checking out this guy's work for some pointers, ever heard of him?

It's good to see some old painters here on CA.

The mood in this pic is great. I'd add more smoke and some explosions to make the pic even more dramatic

Ahahahaha. my friend Ingres told me he smells sulphur. It might be the silly Romanticism in your piece, Eugene. I think it's too modern and cutting-edge for him. Also...I think your piece needs more aliens and maybe even some cannibalistic sailors!

Hey, he's been dead for 144 years, cut him some slack! I don't make much sense when I first get up in the morning!
