Yes... I realize that I could have made a sci-fi character...big azz gun, real easy... or that I could have made my entry a female...boobs n guns, always a winner... but this time around I wanted to do something original, I picked a time frame that is a little more difficult to show, and tried to come up with a concept/story that matched. good luck to all.

Jeb was always a good boy, a bit large for his age, a bit slow to his peers. He loved things that moved, and hated peas. When war broke out, it was the local regiment that came knocking on his mom’s Tennessee cabin door. Seems they had a need for her boy, the north declared war on everything that was good and wholesome in the south, or so they led her to believe. Her boy was just the sort that could turn the tide for them. Jackson’s Regiment, the 1st Heavy Artillery was looking for recruits, and Jeb being an overly large strapping young lad was a perfect match. Ma didn’t take too kindly to these army boys comin round, most had been the local fellas who had picked on Jeb over the years, but now it seemed they had a newfound respect for the boy, and she agreed to let the eager lad sign up.
Having a sheltered life Jeb was happy to see new things, but there were times that he forgot where he was, and cried out for his ma, all to no avail. Once he was introduced to his new job tho, all that changed. Jeb was outfitted with the latest in what would essentially become portable heavy artillery. Of course no one else in the country could carry what ole Jeb could. The ground would slowly give way to his feet as he moved over those southern backwoods. Power became like a drug to the impressionable boy, and his name was changed to BoomBoom for the sound not only his cannon made, but him as well as he would regale in the days events, yelling at the top of his lungs.
Things didn’t turn out so well for BoomBoom tho… and what was thought to be the south’s secret weapon, turned out to be a tragedy in the making. Being easily distracted Jeb would be moments from lobbing cannon balls at the North when a bunny would run past. He ended up doing more damage to his own troops in those quick turns than he ever did to the north.
Sadly he was killed within six months of service by his own men after one such distracting event. It took 40 men to bring poor Jeb down, and they felt a powerful sorrow come over them afterwards. They buried the boy where he lay… and ever since the people of that area have always said there was something in the water that made the children grow up big and strong… if not… well… if not a little slow as well.

The Alpha Squadron boys' loyalty and bravery never wavered. They stood their ground, as their emperor commanded them. Those same grounds became their graves. Against a man who willingly sacrificed his arms and his heart to mount a gun on his body, they died honourable deaths.

    Unfinished, but meh.

Grenogs CHOW#81 Bad Ass Heavy Gunner

It was a strange year, the crops were better than usual, and there was stories of lost civilisations being discovered and rediculas stories of giant apes, infact one so story mentions there being one of these huge creatures being killed New York. But the villagers just laughed it off as another hollywood craze to sell more cinema tickets. Then one afternoon we could here the sounds of thunder in the distance, but unlike the usual thunder this was a continues droning sound which could still be heard as evening approached. Then we saw him/it, it was huge, like one of those sky scrapers in the big cities. The children called it the big gunner. Our bi-planes were no match, he just brushed them off like they were flies. And when he opened fire that huge weapon of his, it was like he had unleashed hell upon us. We had no chance, our weapons against him were useless and one by one our cities were nothing more than rubble. We never did know why he came here and why he so much wanted to destroy us. All I know is after weaks of slaughter, it suddenly went quiet, not a sound could be heard, not even the birds, only the wind. After a day or so we realised he had gone. As quick as he had appeared, just as quick he was gone. We're all getting on with our lives now again, but still there are the nightmares and the uncertainty that one day the heavy gunner will return.

Here is my entry: Guy with an automatic railgun and a BIIIIG Revolver. He uses an exoskeleton to carry the immense weight of the weapons and to move faster. The energy supply for the railgun is located on his back.

I guess my idea of a big gun isn't actually very large at all.

We were supposed to draw a very big gun, right?

I'll second Pat's comment (or 3rd or 4th it) about Bumskee and Nutter being quite incredible, and I'll add Chuck,Mate to that group as well. Very inspirational, guys.

Really loving Bumskee's, Nutter's, Vorace's, and Chuck Wadey's pieces- Especially Vorace's and Wadey's work on the gun designs.

Anyway here's my possibly slightly creepy biomechanical take on it:
