    Lost World : Temple of Nature

    I did this image as a personal project, for d'artiste Matte Painting 2, and gave my best for it. It was the most complex project I've ever worked on and also it was a lot of fun and great time. I've started with a composition sketch, following the golden rule, then I built the basic land according to the sketch. After that I've created some of the foreground elements in vue, added the temple and lastly created special and dynamic effects like that rainbow for instance. I'm very proud of the result and in either case it will be a nice addition to my portofolio;

    I'm going to make a walkthrough soon, detailing everything from the sketch to the final so if you are interested stand by for an edit

    Thanks in advance for your comments!

    due to the unconventional composition- where you have the piece split in two almost mirroring sides...it feels almost perfect for a bookcover. I almost see the 2 sides working better separately other than in that case.

    altogether though as one piece:

    -My eye goes to the light patch on the left instead of the castle which I assume you want your audience to look.
    -The hills on the back could have more variation.
    -The value of the waterfalls on either side are too similar and my eye darts back and forth
    -Couple of whispy clouds could continue more to the left
    -You can show more birds in the distance to push depth and scale
    -The tree on the right is a little too crisp compared to the rockface on the left which is closer to us?

    but nice feel and atmosphere overall

    Beautiful work. Reminds me of Gurney's waterfall city from Dinotopia.

    Did you mostly photo-composite this, is some of it Bryce, or is it all hand done?

    I think it is really nice, and it would be a fantastic book cover, as mentioned above. Only complaint, as said before, is the detail of the tree on the right.
    Great work!
