    Bluefalcon's Book

Welcome to my sketchbook - I was cruising the net last week and saw some seriously amazing sketchbooks and how every individual develops along the way here on CONCEPTART.

I wanted to start back into drawing and sketching - I bought a WACOM tablet on pure motivation and found it horribly difficult to draw with on my first night.

completed the next night - pretty slow I guess

    Same Piece

Same Item, just reworked for color - I got lazy on the handle and it is all fruity and multicolored.

Starting to get the hang of this wacom board, was fun even though no result with this last one. I definitely need work on ears and hands - I avoided the hands completely.

Interesting to see, but it would be cool if you also post some more recent work

Read some beginner drawing stuff online and found that "...a wire or coathanger in a twisted form will force the student to develop hand-eye coordination"...-sweet, here goes

    Falcons

I have always been obsessed with raptors - IE falcons, hawks, etc - going to start learning to draw a Peregrine Falcon piece by piece in separate studies based on photos and anything I can find online.

Part I - Talons (unable to find bone structure - definitely needs 2-3 more iterations)

Well, judging by that falcons foot, you've got some talent in there. I'd like to see you post more. But I guess it isn't how much you post, but how much you draw in real life.

I think the problem with pen&ink is that there is no Ctrl+z command.

writers and artists have a lot in common -- we both draw from life, we both paint pictures, and we'll both spend to many sleepless nights on our work.

    me? not quite

I got motivated by a fellow CAer to draw the human figure and realize I need bigtime practice on this too - more falcon iterations are gonna have to wait until tomorrow.
(I post this only to laugh at how bad this is in about 4 months from now)

Love that falcon-foot on the far left/middle of the page and nice talonz, too...Lookin' good!

Keep drawing people!!!! Keep it up, and yes, four months from now you'll have made killer progress.

I would have to agree with the wireframe procedure, that would definitely test your observation skills.

    I think.

Anyways, just keep up the good work. And yes, in 4 months, you'll have made soid progress, it'll show if you keep drawing everyday.

    no ref

tried one with no reference just to see if I could do it without - the wing is terribly small compared to the body...will try again with reference

Camara - Thanks much for the compliments, check out my post in your SB

--Late night posting from reference, yarrrr
I think I need to read how to render feathers more effectively - seems much more difficult than hair...AND... neck seems too long, more like a vulture than a hawk or falcon perhaps

well, here goes a full piece - probobly my first all-out with paint brushes in painter - nothing conceptual about it...maybe next piece will be some sort of mechanical bird.
