I'M A GIRL. Will anyone on this forum realise that?

Okay. Sketch that took about 40 minutes with the crappiest pencil on Earth.

I'M A GIRL. Will anyone on this forum realise that?

    Mwaha for crappy scanners too!

Any weird/dirty/really dark patches are due to my scanner. All my beautiful (yes, it was beautiful, heh) shading is gone.

I must buy a better scanner.

    "Yakko...?"
    "Yes, Ms. Flameel?"
    "Multiply 47 times 83."
"Multiplication, it's math education! Isn't this swell? Oh, let's give multiplication a standing ovation...
so buy a calculator, study this stuff later!"

-Animaniacs (only a few good quotes from that song. Search "The Multiplication Song - Animaniacs" on YouTube
for this video and any other Animaniacs classic!)

Welcome to the internet. We're all "him" here until people know us. Then we're still "him" to most people.

PM a moderator if you want access to the girls' forum.

Are you keeping your fingers off of the image? It looks like finger-oils are smudged in. Or is that just the scanner?

I think you are awesome, and I wish you the best in your endeavors, but I am tired of repeating myself, I am very busy with my new baby, and I am no longer a regular participant here, so please do not contact me to ask for advice on your career or education. All of the advice that I have to offer can already be found in the following links. Thank you.

    Both.

Unfortunately Leftyy is leftyy-handed and her work is all smudgy.

That shouldn't matter. Stick a clean sheet of paper between your hand and your drawing.

    I know, I know.

It was just a really quick sketch. I'm normally neat.

No doubt about being tough for left handers. Itsa proven fact that lefties are like 60% more likely to get an injury in daily activites, like potato peelers, or scissors. It has been my experience, though that lefties are always exceptional artists too. Just ask Leonardo da Vinci.

why thank you, AP! hehe i too am left handed, and have a hard time smudging things also. i tend to do most of my work 100% digital these days, so i have less of a problem now (as one would expect). try the paper between the hand thing, it works. i would also suggest increasing your values. at the top of every page, start by shading as dark as you can, then continuously and seamlessly move along the page in a line, gradually getting lighter until barely any graphite is left on the page. i call it "gradient lines". it should help with your rendering. consequently, you may find this easier with charcoal as its application is easier (ive found) and the values range quite well.

Guys, this is drawing we're talking about, not writing. As lefties you are at absolutely no disadvantage.

Yes, the eye is normal. The quality is perhaps diminished by my scanner. My scanner sucks. It needs to die.

It doesn't really matter. It's a quick sketch, obviously I take more time and make it less smudgy if it's a big thing.
