It's been a while since I looked here. Really, really awesome environments and characters....really. You wrote that you'd like some crits on the enviros in post 273 and I don't want to just praise and worship, so here's my two cents. #1 - The red in that hole makes it look like a huge wound, as if the rock was actually the frozen corpse of some kind of giant creature, but the red reflections in the snow says otherwise. The good thing about it is that it lets your imagination go wild. The bad thing is that it seems to be telling a story but it doesn't let you make up your mind. #2 As already mentioned, it needs to pop more. Maybe up the contrast and highlights a bit. #3 The structures on each side kind of draws the attention away from the focalpoint. Maybe have something that leads the eye towards it. That's it. Despite it all, they are still well beyond my current reach in terms of technique and quality, as I'm a huge newbie, and look very nice on their own, great updates overall. The red one with the stairs in post #280 reminds me of a level in Diablo 2 and the one with the overgrown ruins looks fantastic. Thanks for sharing. :]

now that ive looked at your work for a while i think i see stuff that could be improved upon ...

it seems that you know your photoshop forwards and backwards
but some of the images are missing stuff.
form isn't very convincing in some pieces, in anatomy and movement
you make up for it with your lighting and composition and colour.
your best pieces have all of these things

just do some pencil studys and and stuff like that and work on pushing shit

your waaaaaaaaayyy better than i am, but thats what i see.

    have fun.xD

S.M- well heres a small update
Psychotrope- lol thanks for pumping me up think i'm gonna have to go browse through the finished works section to humble myself now haha
    kidult-
Christoffer- thanks so much for the critique christoffer I agree with you completely, the red in the piece could be quite a few things but i don't hint enough at any of them so it just seems random, to be honest i'm not quite sure which direction i should take with it, I'll have to think on it, and of course i truly appreciate your comment thanks!
    L0rin-will do!
hunchback- hey thanks, I appreciate you taking the time to give me some advice I agree with you, I think my forms can be a little weak at times. that is something I need to work on, I'll definitely keep it in mind,

here's an update, just getting some values in.

I'm glad my observational skills aren't completely out of order. :p I'm digging the mood in this update. You make it look so simple. I seriously need to learn this kind of compositioning. I hope the mood will translate well if you're thinking about coloring it. Cheers!

Christoffer- I am thinking of coloring it! in fact here's some color progress
comixnut- thanks , I have been doing a lot of environments lately

I don't really like showing paintings midway through but I just wanted to keep the progress shots going. there's a lot to do yet! and to be honest i'm having a little difficulty with the cliff, I should probably look up some refs so it doesn't look like a quick cartoon backdrop....uhhhhhh back to work!!
