hp-thanks! true true! i think the expression faded as i rendered her face in..damnit! but your definitely right and to answer your question: it is a fine cocktail of freelance and begging! I'm constantly writing to game companies to see if i would be of any use but apparently not! so its pretty bittersweet, it goes down nice but the aftertaste is awful! although! i do have an interview tomorrow that may send me over to san fransisco but we shall see...

meflow- are you suggesting something?!!! haha

Quike Garcia-ah yes i see what your sayin thanks for the crit! maybe i'll go back but i'll have to finish up these other things first

another update on the dragon piece, AND!!!!

    beautiful piece.

the guy in the front bothers me tho....i think too outlined. i know you probably want him to stand out but if you could make it slightly less graphic looking i think it'd be better. still a wip tho so feel free to ignore

good luck with the job, i don't think you'll have a problem getting it!

Awesome painting! I agree with hp bout the foreground dude, he looks too cut'n'paste right now. Love the transluscent dragon wing, it came out great!
I think it might be my monitor, but some of the darks could be pushed more value-wise; the blue hazy shadows is a nice effect, but some darks in areas where no light reaches such as between the twigs would ground things better imo.

nice stuff ... the last chow looks kinda weird on the back though , i mean it looks like there is some sort of light there , but don't actually look like a secondary light source , it gives a sense of equality in overall , take care!

you sir, are a gentleman and a scholar. I am loving all your pieces here and have a tremendous urge to compress your lighting skills into a delicious nugget of WONDER and just eat it all up!

wow , nice , that last lion thing reminds me of Black and White game mixed with princess monanoke forest god haha ... good stuff , my opinion that you need to define your rendering technique a bit more , gives a fuzzy feel and not in a good way

yongs- thanks! and i'm glad you like my blog 8)
hp- thanks for pointing that out! i see what you mean, i'll have to fix that when i get the time to go back into it. I think its cause i lassoed him which pretty much set him apart from the background. it'll be an easy fix tho
SirGreenSock- ah thanks, yea i suppose your right, I've been trying to avoid blacks lately and replacing it with some prettier colors but i'll have to see what i can do.
Giorge-good point I think maybe i stopped short on that one to make the deadline and then i didn't get the chance to go back to it but thanks for the crit!
Mark Tarrisse- haha two people complaining about the shadows..damn, I guess i really have to fix it now! actually i'll probably be reduing all the rocks anyway so hopefully that'll fix it
    Mag-Neo- y thanks!
gutss-lol thanks! and let me know if you figure out how to do that cause there are a few artists skills that i'd like to do that with!
Giorge-there's a lion in here?!!! everyone out!! and thanks for the advise i'll definitely work on that!

I guess you could try throwing colors into a piece that u haven't used yet.

I've had no luck on compressing artistic skills into delicious nuggets as of yet, james. I: sorry to disappoint!

I am entranced by that wonderfully foamy water I have to say (and those stark greyscale environments are beeeeeaaauuudddiiiffulll)

Nice dragon pic but the latest girlie? Wow. Very hot.

Good progress in the thread. Competition in the video game industry for art jobs must be incredibly fierce if you can't get in. I think it's inevitable that you will get in, though, provided you keep working. How can you not?

I think the C & C someone gave about the strip club scene is spot on. Also, the necks of those guys in that one seemed off... like they all had goiter or something... lol.

But that's just one crit in the massive number of "win" pics you've posted. This is def'ly 5 star work in here.

Your enviros are really good, and I am envious at your ability to paint rocks.
Your characters could use some more work, but I can see improvement there as well.
    Keep up the good work.

Love you stuff. Just thought i'd get that disclaimer in, because i don't think that in this pic http://www.conceptart.org/forums/att...1&d=1256337058 her left leg is going to meet her left hip/butt. I looked at the prelims in the blog and i think the first draft and maybe even second pic had it correct but i feel that maybe somehow it kinda got 'shifted' out of position.

However i am not a master of anatomy, so take it for what it is please.

First thing I noticed when I saw your stuff, is that you are very talented with colours. They really pop but do not seem totally unreal or too comicy.
The girl looks very nice and the shadowrun scene as well, though I think that valuewise it is a bit too similar. I would try tweaking it, so that you focus more on the scene a nd not as much on the town. That is supposed to be the background so the actual scene should pop more.

    Cheers
