I've been watching this site for quite some time now, and I've decided it's time i get off my lazy ass and start my own sketchbook. I'm a 17 year old student from Breda, the Netherlands.
First of all, I got a load of work that I did in the past 3-4 months (EDIT: Removed the first post so I can easily change my sketchbook's avatar. The drawings were crappy anyway.), when I really started drawing a lot. It's mostly in the right chronological order, so you should be able to see SOME progression at least.. I hope.
Also, i recently started working seriously out of Hogarth's Drawing the Human Head, so expect more head studies.
[Old shit here, plz check post #57 and further.]
that's that, more to follow soon

I just found and scanned some stuff from about a month ago. Some random doodles and some 90 sec figure sketches.
Congratulations, of all your sketches i loved the ones with faces...they irratiate life on it, also i wanted to ask you, what is your perception and concept throught gas-masks and wires?
and let me know if i just sounds annoying or creepy...because i can be without conscientizie it, and appart from that, rate my english and my grammar too
Oh!, look an old sketchbook of mine
"Your shinning armor and fine words wouldn't get you anywhere!".-Travis Touchdown/No More Heroes
"The world is changing it's size, it's changing to control it with your hands just like a PDA,the world will keep getting small".- Kun Lan/Killer 7
"Our dealings it pleasure to both of us Pious...He lies...As do we all".-Xel'lotath/Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem
@Reptil: Thank's for replying and the compliment man. About the gasmasks and wires: Sometimes i just get inspired by seeing a random pic, and I incorporate features into my doodles on that page. Also I find the idea of concealing a character's identity fascinating, and ofcourse gasmasks just look cool. Oh and your English is just fine
@N1ck: It's funny to see what things other people notice that you didn't in your own sketches. Below I did what I think to be a better version of the shading on the forehead. The problem was that i wanted to make the brow visor (the thick bone above the eyes) stand out, but instead it looked as if the forehead caved in, which isn't natural.
I'll return the favour soon by checking your SB's, not now though cause it's 02:52 here atm. So I'm off to bed. Here's the last update of the day, a few more Hogarth head studies and some crappy OC doodles. The studies aren't really finished, but whatever, I'm tired.

I can't see any of the last pictures. It would be best if you upload them as an attachment (a little button on the bottom when you write a post).
@N1ck: I uploaded them to ca.org using the paperclip button, if that's what you mean, then I inserted them in the post by clikcing on ''insert all''. They show up fine for me, strange stuff.
Anyway, I got another update for you all. More head studies from mainly Hogarth, some blind contour drawings (looking at the object you're drawing but not to the paper) and some fast figure sketches from the posemaniacs website.
Now I can see your pics. Strange thing…
The blind contourdrawings look good. Also the other pictures you have done recently are looking better than the early ones.
More Hogarth studies and some doodles.
More updates soon to come.
Again, no pictures. Something seems to be wrong, because your SB is the only that makes problems when showing. Maybe you posted too much pictures for one page.
I really like them man. Your eyes are superb, in my opinion. and you also have very good shading. I like
Some more eye studies from Hogarth and Loomis.
Haven't updated for 3 days, shame on me. Haven't really got that much new stuff, and you won't see me for 2 weeks now. Yea I know.. cry cry, whatever I'll be on vacation in the Languedoc (Southern France) enjoying the area and visiting castle ruins.
I really need a change of scenery so I think it'll be good. Don't know how much art I'll be able to do, but I've got my SB with me, and the environment should give me inspiration, so let's just hope for the best. When I'm back, you'll hopefully get a big update.
Cya in 2 weeks, by which you'll find my thread somewhere deep in the depths of ca.org hell.
Back from vacation in the Languedoc and it was awesome! Seen a lot of castles (which is why i was there mainly) so I'm happy. I made about 2000 photo's too so no shortage of fun or pics.
If it means anything to you, I've been to: Carcassonne, Termes, Villerouge-Termenés, Lastours-Cabaret, Saissac, Peyrepertuse, Quéribus, Puilaurens and Arques. Some of these involved a lot of nice climbing/walking narrow paths less than a metre wide without any protection from the abyss, meaning that if you tripped off the path you'd fall down 200 metres. Also been to Béziers, Minerve and Rennes-le-Chateau.
I'll probably post some pics once I have them on the pc (just arrived 2 hours ago).
Anyway, the art:
Apologies for the bad scan quality (mainly reflections in the drawings that aren't there when you look at the drawings under normal light) in some of the drawings, it has to do with the paper of my current sketchbook. A lot of these drawings were pretty rushed, as in me wanting to get some drawing done but not really having any time for it cause it's been 2 busy weeks. Also, some of them arent finished.. maybe I'll finish them later when I feel like it. They're mostly studies from Loomis, Hogarth and Bridgman, with some random no-reffed doodles thrown in.
More heads again. Really gonna start working on other parts soon tho. A few more mouth studies (Bridgman) and some photo-reffed heads.
Last one is a photo because the paper was so curly from the drawing that it looked horrible as a scan. I'll get a sb with thicker paper like my previous one asap.
Here are the drawings from the past few days. Bought 2 new sketchbooks with higher quality paper (A4 - 220g/sheet, smooth surface). So no more ''curly'' paper that has reflections after this.
Also bought a little book to take with me and draw whenever i can. The size combined with the rings makes it hard to scan tho as you can see.
New sb paper!
and damn that guy has a narrow body, hadnt even noticed that before. It was a doodle anyway.
Hey, really nice improvement. There are some nice heads in you last sketches.
Nice sketches, in some of the sketches the head seems a bit to big, but since you're doing a lot of anatomy studies theres not much i can say other than keep doing what you're doin.
And btw, the eye studies are nice as hell.
keep it up
btw.. i absolutely LOVE dynamic figure drawing by burne hogarth.. best book i ever read on construction/muscles. I'm devouring it atm. Also got some bridgman neck studies done.
Awesome SB I love the energy of your lines! keep it up!
stuff from partly today and partly yesterday. Didn't have that much time to do some good studies, cause I had to work, and the Tour is on the tv. Some more Hogarth studies, 2 photo reffed female heads and 1 head that I just made as a doodle cause i was fed up with rendering the 2nd face. Btw I hate rendering hair, it's horrible.
great stuff dude, i realy like the not so rendered pieces, keep it up^^
Another update.. this time for you: 1 page of crappy heads, 1 page of not so crappy heads.. middle and lower head reffed, upper from mind.
I really feel like these photo studies are helping. Need to do some more real life drawing too tho.
you're doing great, just keep on keepin' on

I agree with Hurri, your doin great, keep those pistons going, and you'll be a pretty person in no time.
@Goog, Hurricane, and all the others too ofcourse: Thanks a lot guys for taking the time to reply to my sb! Always makes me feel good when there's comments.
2 more pages I did today:
Hey duder, keep it up! I like how your scribbly style of sketching/shading give your drawings a lot of volume and character. You're not drawing outlines levels of space, and it's really effective. And way to churn out sketches; you're a madman! Keep at it! ;D
