Nice studies, but some of your proportions seem off. Have you read any books about hand and head drawing?
I've started taking a figure drawing class! Here are my drawings from the first session. I think I need to work on getting my forms and proportions correct before I jump into tone.

You're right Dog-faced, my shadows are weak and the high-lights are way too saturated on the shady side.
