Trying to get back into the 'draw every day' habit. Yesterday's sketches:
I love your landscape thumbnails!
Good work with the master studies, as well. My only critique is that your figures could use some richer colors, and the colors are overly smooth and blurry (heavy...
I love your style! Particularly your line work.
Great lines on your line work, great colors on your paintings! Now to just put them together...
Also, welcome to ConceptArt.org!
I was working on some 3d reference guides for some body type practice-- here's the start for my character Saffira (body shape modeled after an Olympic high-jumper).
Man, you've got such a fun cartoon style. You're a lot farther along than I was at your age.
Some other things drawn in the interim:
... So, it's been ages, and I swear I've drawn since I last posted. I just forget to put my work here... anyway.
Some hand studies:
I usually sketch in pencil then transfer--...
Some features studies-- I was trying some exaggeration and simplification. Don't think I managed it.
And then I decided to go wild and joined the CA.org facebook spinoff...
My poses really do turn crappy if I'm not drawing something I can see, is the problem. However much I draw sticks and skeletons it just doesn't seem to help. I'm completely useless...
Art fear #15 and #42: drawing the same character consistently; drawing groups interacting.
May I present the Torlo quints, who will eventually be characters in my book?
The site is up! Yeah!
And I found a free palette resource that I thought I'd try out.
So all my work has sucked lately. Really, really bad stuff.
Time to go study some Andrew Loomis. I'm starting on his squishy heads.
Trying new things... frankly, my last few drawings I tossed over my shoulder in disgust. I'm not particularly happy about this one, but the idea wouldn't leave me alone.
At least I'm drawing? Dumb...
New WIP! Maybe an hour into gathering my thoughts.
Rough sketch and some color ideas. I was going for a 'playing card' composition.
Not liking that mostly-hidden hand; I'll try out a few...
The series is a high fantasy about a cursed immortal trying to find Death, as well as a love story (the same way Homer's Odyssey is a love story). It's episodic, and we keep changing the sub-genres,...
And, the newest images. Book covers seem to be taking over my life. (WIP).
@Kashidori - That's always been a problem for me-- I always seem to focus on the character's personality, but not how they *express* that personality. In drawing, anyway. Keep up the good work!
I hereby name you 'Deflator of Egos'. :)
But in all seriousness, thank you so much for sharing your work! I love how versatile your work is.
You've made amazing progress in such a short time! Keep up the good work!
I particularly like how you're practicing expressions.
Long time, no posting. (Bad Eliza.) I promise, I've been drawing in the interim.
Here's my new stuff!
The finished cover that I started with in the beginning of this sketchbook:
Here's how Adelynne came out. The posemaniacs sketch pose needed lots of adjusting, but I'm pleased. :)
Started doing figure studies, decided that I've been studying anatomy without drawing anyone from imagination for two long. Decided to combine figure studies with my pre-existing characters.
Gah! Men! Your... square but not bodies! Your curves that aren't actually curves! Your straight lines that aren't actually straight lines! /falls over
You guys are all amazing.
I just started a new programming job this week; drawing has fallen way, way behind this week. I'm afraid this is all I've got to show for myself-- focusing on the male...
