Here's a portrait I did (partially) from life. A couple of tips for (digital) portraits from life:

Someone fu*ed up the forums again it seems, plenty of posts missing here.

I'm assuming you're getting paid despite the game not having been funded yet? Because if you don't, that's the first lesson you need to learn if you ever want to be a professsional: never work for...

Thanks tigger. Too much praise ;)
You're welcome Astronomia!
No, I'm pulling your leg ;)
I'm speaking from personal experience.
The reason I usually advise against "looking for work" is that the most likely reason that you haven't gotten work yet is that...
Put your work out there (sketchbook on here, deviantArt, artstation, drawcrowd, social networks like FB etc.).
If your work is good enough, you'll get job offers sooner or later.
Agreed! There is much detail to be learned when it comes to bones and their mechanics though that I'd say should be tackled after simplified volumes have been learned. That's what I meant, I didn't...
I'm not so sure. Not saying the diagram is a perfect representation of the arm and its mechanics, but do I believe learning a simplified geometric representation of the masses like this first is...
No new artwork, but I've updated my website. Was about time, too. There are still a couple of small things bugging me that I haven't figured out how to fix yet, but it is presentable...

I agree with arenhaus insofar as that there has been a strong trend towards a more uniform "style" or "hand" in (mostly promotional) concept art. That does have to do with the new tools and also with...

Have you seen some other videos/ read other texts by Shaddy? He's being over-the-top in his usual hilarious way. I wouldn't take everything he says at face value. He's exaggerating to drive his point...

There's no debate really when it comes to production art. Nobody gives a crap how you work, all that matters is the result.
All the tools (or "cheats" as Shaddy calls them, which is really only...

edit/ wait, what? A thread from 2011? Really?
Ditch the ruler and learn to draw straight lines. Robertson describes techniques to train dexterity in the DVDs and also in "How to Draw".

i suggest you get an asaro head and do some life studies from it. It's a great way to study the form of the face.
While that is of course logical, it does not fit with the other GNOMON Videos that I've purchased, the cover/ teaser images were always representative of the actual content, so as a GNOMON customer...
I bought these as well. The content is good and useful, but I also distinctly remember that I felt let down when the videos amounted solely to basic constructions and those elaborate drawings were...
