Some oil studies from an open studio at the local museum. I've been trying to get some of my traditional skills back. A
little over 2.5 hours a piece. I left the first one out (because it was...
I'm with Taneli. The crow image is wonderful. You nailed a feeling with that one that I'm always trying to get but am always just missing.
On an animation side note I thought you'd dig this (if...
Holy crap I didn't realize I had comments I hadn't gotten back to... and from December?! Ooff, sorry about that folks.
lennon: Thanks, the fact that you're seeing something in there as far as...
Glad the convention went well. The bird-girl is awesome.
This 3d work is looking pretty rad (and way over my head). Running back through your book what really jumped out at me was the material studies from way back last year in post... #230. Very solid. ...
A couple more quick guys and some figure drawing.
Alice in Wonderland sketch. About an hour and forty minutes.
Just a figure drawing this time out. It's from the open drawing at our local art museum. About 40 -...
The way you're building out of texture and color in some of these paintings is great. Really really great. I can tell you like to paint more than draw. Thanks for dropping by my book!
Hey thanks, towy!
Fun sketch (at least it was fun to make).
Whoa, that guy is bigger than I thought! I think you picked the best color scheme for him and agree that there is still some decisions to make about just how that head crest relates to the head and...
Sourgasm: Thanks! I need to drop by your book and see what's going on... but for now I'm off to dinner. Thai food, yum.
Just another quick lunch thing. Playing around....

Lunch time speedy...
You've got a great imagination for form and interesting shapes. I'm really enjoying it and I'll be sure to be back.
As you know I think this last painting came out great. Could use a better picture of it though. What are you going to make tonight?
You're putting in a lot of good work. Keep on rolling! Borders' clearance section rocks for reference books.
phoenicorn: Thanks a lot. I've got a looooooooooong way to go.
At work we do this thing called the Random Words Art Challuunge (meant to be spelled that way). The words for this one were demon,...
Solid as always. That self portrait came out great. Bummer it didn't get in on time.
Holy hell, I haven't been by here since half way through the Anastasia piece. Way to keep the momentum rolling. The study of the mouse came out really solid.
Rock on. Right now I'd suggest really focusing on getting form to read. Try to think in 3d while you're laying out your drawings. Does that make any sense?
Took a small plane ride down to Vegas for work. Dragged along my little book.
Hoo, been gone a while. Time to get back into it.
Aila: Ah shucks, thanks. I'm shuffling my feet all bashful style.
Alucid: I'm glad you like the painterly style. Almost everything I do is...
Those are a good five points that you started with. Also good start jumping back and forth between studies from observation and imagination. Go Go Go!
Some pencil sketches from the last couple days.
