I was thinking possibly retriever x shepherd. The eye placement and the darker ear pigment seem very shepherd-ish to me, and would explain the shorter chest fur. The dog DOES highly resemble a toller...
Received two more references from the woman, and the fur is definitely shorter and more toller-esque, as well as the color being much more saturated than it originally appeared.
I asked the woman for more pictures last night, she said she'll see what she can do. It's not her dog, but a friend's so hopefully she'll be able to get some.
I added more greys and...
Thanks for the shop to illustrate what you meant!
This is the reference I was given, and to me the dog looks too foreshortened and it focuses more on the dog in the landscape (the plants) than it does on the dog, which is what I want as...
The original reference wasn't much in ways of composition, hence the body changing. I didn't realize how far back the head still was in comparison to the body
I lassoed the head a bit more to the...
It's a memorial for a dog that's passed away. Still a WIP, but I want some feedback before I start to get into any details. I don't have anything in particular I wish to focus on, so any...

This folder contains my references.
I realize it still needs quite a bit of work. Here...
SketchBook: An update!
Love these, but the heads on the first ones seem too small for the bodies.
Keep up the good work!

Not exactly a hardware/software question, but I think this would be the most appropriate forum.

I enjoy your studies, especially the ones on the perspective.

The portrait was referenced off a photo that popped up on my tumblr - still looking for the photographer/movie/whatever it was from to credit.
The commissioner was happy with how the first painting was going - I wasn't, which was why I posted it here. They're pretty much going "Okay, just send it to me when you're okay with it." So I'm...
Alright! Thank-you, I've bookmarked both links.
Was it the cactus comment that did it? :^^:
Most of my issue wasn't that there was criticism --there will always be criticism, as my work...
Really? I've found posemanics really helps me memorize muscles and do more accurate gesture drawings.
I do use photoshop mostly, but it's not the only medium I use. I mostly do a lot of pencil...
