Hi. This is quite the project you have there.
Since it's really long I'm not going to comment on individual pages. What bothered me on the whole was that you seem to jump in and out of different...
At least when I was choosing for which to vote I went with a picture that I thought had an interesting concept and ideas behind the design but not necessarily the most prettiest or best...
My first Chow entry! :)
Decided to submit it early just in case so I don't mess up because of the time difference.
I made this one in watercolor and gouache with a little retouch in photoshop. ...
This is my first attempt here to join a contest :) I hope I'll be able to finish the artwork in time.
But this is the rough I have right now, I'm doing it in watercolor, digital...
Some more random stuff.
You should post some more pictures! It's hard to get a feel of your art from just one photo :)
But the pose and the drawing is very nice, what I would like to see is more sharpness and more...
Great entries everyone! Just to be sure...this contest closes tomorrow?
Very nice sketchbook, love your creature and character designs, they are really interesting. I really like your last sketch, you are getting some elements there that look good, maybe because...
Thanks, need to start posting some more. Values are actually something I have to work on more :)
So I haven't used this sketchbook in a.... long time.
But now I'm on second year in illustration in Reykjavík's school of visual art.
So...I'm just gonna post some sketches and roughs right now....
(Not sure if this is the right place for this thread)
Greetings fellow artists.
I, like many others, want to get better at drawing. I'm in my first year in illustration so I draw quite a lot...
Yes that's true, I'm sure it's very hard in this industry. But, let's then at least, very stealthily, try to keep our goals ;)
You know, the funny thing is, that if you tweak the storyline a little, there have been mangas made basically with this storyline...
It's more common to have monsters instead of aliens though.
Well...I'm back to the Batwoman picture again.
I was browsing through this on DA, since I found the whole thing a little strange. Sure her picture is fine, but there are still some flaws in it....
Tracing is a very broad term.
The article is actually interesting, the person who wrote it seems to be using tracing, in fact to better himself, not just to end up with a perfect photo-realistic...
What usually works for me is
1. Listening to some good music, usually instrumental that gets my imagination flowing.
2. Browsing through good artwork and art books makes me usually feel like...
I recently got accepted into Reykjavík's School of Art (Myndlistaskólinn í Reykjavík), the department is a mix of Fine arts and Illustration (Teikning).
It might not have the same high standard as...
Some of my recent watercolour works :)
Thank you so much guys!
And Swamp Thing, thank you very much for the detailed answer, I think you are very right in your idea of mixing the two of them together!
I'm going to go and work some...
Thank you for the comments.
I think I'll work more on the second one, and give it more natural light and shadow. It is true, the light source is too strong.
I personally like the second...
I did this first picture half a year ago in a painterly style in photoshop, now I decided to remake it in a more line based style, which I am currently working more in. I would really like...
Redid my red riding hood in my more "natural" style. I guess I'm more comfortable with line based artwork instead of a more painting style.
And some face studies from life drawing class as well.
Some studies from my life drawing class.
Well a bunch of them really. Most of them are on brown paper, which is why they look kind of dark.
There does not seem to be much originality in those works. I have meddled around it bryce, i actually used it more for reference in other art instead of making art out of it. Also in those simply...
