another sick-ass self portrait. Trying out some charcoals....
Glasses fuck me up. I think next time I'll put in my contacts. And pick a different position for the mirror / light.
Those apples look crisp and delicious!
Fantastic studies. I wish I had that kind of discipline.
You've got some really good works here, but man, those images are big. It's hard to see the whole picture and give good feedback.
I really like those last two. It's awesome that you and your girlfriend sketch together. :)
Agree. Colors = win. Moreover, I dig the subtle textures in the sky and landscape, as well as the designs on the beast.
He looks perfectly benevolent to me.
Your portrait and figure studies are great! I like how you'll wipe out whole areas of your drawings that aren't working, and start fresh. I've heard that Sargent used to do the same thing; completely...
nice stuff. Puts a smile on my face.
I particularly like the series of racing animals. :)
That iguana study is great. How's the collage coming along?
ugh... can't sleep. So, here's a painting of an old woman.
awesome stuff. I really like the style you've got going.
That first image is particularly cool; I like the mix of graphic street elements, and the more realistic rendering on the faces.
yeaaaaaa. Really cool. I love it. :)
Great job. That frame really complements the piece well.
You're actually off to a terrific start. You generally have strong, confident lines, which is something that often takes people a while to develop. The only thing I would caution you on, is to not...
saa: thanks for the advice. I will try out that palette next time. On that last SP, I used a kinda limited palette: titanium white, prussian blue to cool down the shadows (this made everything a...
wow, stunning work.
I love how much you capture with relatively few brush strokes. You know just what to details to leave to the viewer's imagination. Awesome.
that last alchemy experiment is really cool!
those studies in the last post are really good. I like your hatching / shading technique.
How can you draw too much in a drawing class??? Isn't that the point? :)
Great stuff. You have a wide range of styles here, all strong.
Alchemy stuff looks cool.
There's freezing rain outside, so I spent the morning doing another SP in oils.
starting to maybe look like me a bit... well better than last time, at least. I still don't know how to mix colors...
caterpillar study. Kinda got bored with this one
some quick, silly sketches before I go to work. Didn't have time to fill out the whole page.
you've got some cool stuff here.
I've noticed that in general your value range is rather limited, and as a result your images don't have much contrast. This is particular noticeable on the heads...
some shitty self portraits, in oils.
I'll do better next time.
I'm moving to Seattle in 3 weeks. My plan is, once I get there to do a self-portrait every day.
faces; some from books, some from life, some from imagination.
...and my iguana was standing still, so I was able to do a quick study of her. She's pretty fun to draw. I should draw her more often.
