Vctr-glad it was of some use. The size of the figure in the painting is roughly 20 inches in height
Tristian-thanks… I hadn’t even thought about anybody recognizing the model
Hi everyone, I thought some of you might enjoy these images.
These three images show the process I demonstrated during a 6 day 2007 workshop at The Grand Central Academy of Art in New York....
Fantastic---I am so pleased to see someone put this together including citations.
It is nice to see Munsell being discussed here. Thanks Verdaccio for sharing a bit.
However, just a couple of things that Verdaccio mentioned might need a bit of clarification so as to not...
I saw your work in the “main page gallery submissions and nominees” section and then browsed through this thread. Certainly you have some very strong studies here. I look forward to seeing your...
If I emerge from my cave (studio) my eyes will have to adjust to all that light and I’ll need slather on the SPF—but I might be able to manage.
OTF, hah! Love it.

Nice to see what you've been up to lately. Perhaps we can head out sometime and knock out a few plein air studies.
Hope to see some more!
I’ll throw my hat in the ring….and like the others submitting I am pleased to be considered for this new gallery section. Thanks for the opportunity!

Yeah, I’m bad and often eat my desert first.:teeth: Sometimes I can resist and save it for later. And yet sometimes I just have to have a bite of this and then a bit of that.
It’s been so long it’s tough to answer. I should say that the reproduction has raised the contrast a touch. Perhaps this plays a role. This painting was problematic because I never got...
Color is too big of an area to cover solely in this thread but here are some ideas that might help. In terms of color models I am most familiar with Munsell’s model. It divides color...
There are a lot of mediums out there and I still haven’t settled on a perfect one. I generally don’t use much medium. For under-painting where I want it to dry fast I often use Liquin....
Below I have included a quote from:

BY SOLOMON J. SOLOMON, R.A. written in 1914.
In his text, Solomon outlines a process...
I photocopied the drawing and then rubbed charcoal on the back. Putting this on the linen (charcoal side down) I traced the drawing and the pressure transferred the image. Glad it helped....
Great to see this work.
Very nice work sir. I am glad I caught this thread.
Just sharing two more recent images. The second has a demonstration. I have been meaning to put up something like this for a while.
Also, for anyone interested I am teaching two...
Thanks for the comment. This is a bit old fashioned I guess. Perhaps even more so because there were no photos or grids used, just knitting needles for comparative measuring. ...
Hi everyone. Thanks for the continued responses.
The Water Street Atelier is still active, but in a different form. It is no longer at its location on Water Street in Brooklyn, but...
Ending up in Fort Misery is a boring story. If we run into each other some time I'll explain.
