I'm guessing feathering is loading an area with tiny marks or?
How is that going to work with changing light conditions?
Kudos to you, sir or madam. Like my teacher said, "Whenever you wake up, that is your morning."
That's a hell of a link, thanks!
You're using dark pigments but it looks like you aren't making them thick enough. You can make some dark washes pretty thick with paint while still maintaining some transparency.
EDIT: Oh! I...
If someone wants to do last minute Green Goblin, it's open. I haven't had time to work on it since I posted my WIP, and I don't anticipate finishing it any time soon.
So this time I decided to do a little more ideation. I wrote a character brief and threw together some photo reference sheets (I think there's a better name for it), and I think it's really helped...
I'm going to reserve the Green Goblin.
I couldn't really think of what more to do with this. Looking forward to the next one!
Is this in the right section?
He needs a lantern in that other hand! Maybe like one of those light bulbs with the cage and the hook on top so he can hang it from a car hood!
No, it isn't what I was going for! I know little about proportions (along with a great number of things art-related) so if that's it idk what to do. I was using photo reference from The Quiet Man...
The last one is much better drawing, but consider getting a hold of some vine charcoal and doing some basic still-life drawings. Make clean dark/light separation and then you can add midtones, core...
Okay, so I went with an Irish-looking fella carrying a big cross on his back with candles on it. I felt a lot more confident making this one for some reason. As always, gimme them crits and...
Similar thread from many years ago.
Hey J, long time, no see! You're like, WAY good now. I'm jealous!
Where are you going to school? I looked up Nate yesterday and saw you guys tagged somewhere together. I'd love to get together...
You have to follow the link and generate ad revenue! It is a good article, though. Reminds me of myself several years ago.
Thanks for the crits! I like your Bridgman copies. I need to get the pdfs of his book(s).
It's been a long time since I've frequented this site, but I seem to remember the aspiring animators...
Do you mean drawing with one line without picking the pen/stylus up? Are you talking about gesture specifically?
The sketch above and the one I'm inserting below are from Andrew Loomis' Drawing...
Thanks for the crits! After I posted that sketch I erased a lot of the stuff that wasn't the character and the blimp-lantern. Still having not found satisfaction with where it was going I've done...
Before late last week, I hadn't done any serious painting in probably 4 years. I went to a community college in my hometown, and by chance a new drawing and painting teacher had been hired since the...
I've got a rough composition laid in here. Do I need to increase the size of the character in relation to everything else? Are the basic elements reading pretty clearly?
