I do have to say, the way you shade, it is rather fantastic.
It just takes less thinking and more doing. In my opinion there is no way to really "switch" it on. It's just once you start you don't want to stop; but if you don't start, there is nothing to stop.

When it comes to working with the human body, using references does help, but also understanding the underlying construction of the muscles also helps as well.
It is too busy. I am not sure where the focal is.
My only concern is that Triangle thing on his head. How does that get put on?
Also not sure if that is intention, but the cape looks like solid chocolate and now really that flowful.
I was noticing that too, and I wonder what it could be. Would love to avoid this in my drawings as well.
Your sense of value is quite keen and accurate. I would just say, not sure if it is just your style, but to add a bit more "finished" detail to your work.

Loving your progress so far. From your last post I would definitely say that #6 is the most sacrificial one, but I know in the D3 universe, the witchdoctors do not have that kind of time....
